Starting an affiliate program - ShareASale? Open Source shop cart w/ aff plugin?

Has anyone used ShareASale or similar? We have a product and want to set up an affiliate program, and are trying to decide whether to go with a managed affiliate program like ShareASale or try to run one on our own. Another option we were recommended is an open source shopping cart with an affiliate plugin, looking for suggestions.

Any experience with the above or any other recommendations/warnings much appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Here is a free bump. We used Share-a-sale in the beginning. Got lots of affiliates to sign up, but few actually produced (typical of an affiliate program though).

We don't necessarily care about getting affiliates through them, just managing the ones we know we already have and can generate on our own. Having their affiliate base is nice too, but not the main concern.

MPA is working on a "mainstream" affiliate system. We're setting it up for our new affiliate network you should contact Oystein before going with shareasale.

Thanks Raja,
Do you know if they have entry level rates? This is a new venture with low start-up capital.

That is one advantage of ShareASale. They manage all that for you.

Share a sale should provide some resellers though if the product is new. As we use them and do well with as an affiliate.
