Lmfao!!!

I think it's telling that the makers of Twitter named it as such because thats what they called the process themselves.. twittering. They would twitter short messages back and forth. So what does the public do? Make up their own new word for it.. tweet..
When you're on the verge yourself, you might have it all sewn up, but the moment a third party observes it.. it's changed forever. Must be that whacky uncertainty principle at work or somethin.

tweetstalk? for reals?

dyna mo 07-15-2009 10:59 AM

i wonder where the virtual anti-socialites would go on that graph!

twitter is tha shit

CarlosTheGaucho 07-15-2009 01:48 PM

Yeah, very accurate.

I just read a book about The Doors and although i don't exactly get off on Jim Morrison or so, there's a pretty good quote, something among the lines that:

"people are loosing the sense of reality, they are concentrating on TV, movies, pop idols and get emotional about all kinds of symbols, but in the reality of their lives they're emotionally dead"

And this was dated about 1967, the whole "virtual ego" madness on the web brought this to brand new levels...

I see more and more people being more concerned if they have their new pics and enough friends and "kudos" and bullshit on their facebook than if they made anything worth mentioning on that particular day..

tranza 07-15-2009 04:21 PM

This ring must be destroyed. hehehehehe

My wife and I were just sayin' the same thing the other day.

There's an entirely new generation of automatons who don't really do or accomplish anything tangible or noteworthy themselves - but think their involvement in these various social networking sites is somehow constructive.

So, doesn't it make sense that you learn to market to them?

Drake 07-15-2009 10:27 PM

I'm with baddog- if people want to buy crap, by God, sell it to 'em!

X37375787 07-15-2009 10:32 PM

spot on. this is exactly the reason why a. we are all going to dumb down to the level of monkeys or b. this whole social media bullshit will expire its popularity soon enough.

CYF 07-16-2009 12:18 AM

It's funny cuz it's true :2 cents:

I am glad so many of you seem to feel this way.

You seem to concerned about how to "market" something, rather than actually have an opinion which doesn't concern money.

A bit like you going on vacation and wearing a "Got Web Host?" t-shirt all the time, rather than actual 'normal' clothes bought from a shop.

Just saying...

Vacation? What are these vacations you speak of? And yeah, I guess it is silly to discuss marketing on a webmaster forum.

My bad.

CaptainHowdy 07-16-2009 07:17 AM

Aahahahahahaha! Good way to actualize Lacan's graph.

My bad.

Discussing marketing is fine. Telling me i will be "left behind" because i don't agree with what they stand for is wrong.

I will adapt like everybody else. Doesn't mean i have to agree with it. I make decisions daily which i don't always want to, but have to...

What do you mean, "agree with it?"

Agree that it is the way it is or do you mean that you don't like it?

HorseShit 07-16-2009 07:28 AM

great picture

I hate how it gets used by people in general, so no i don't like it.

Like someone said already, people seem more worried about how many friends or how many pics they have on their page, rather than actually doing something a little more productive.

I will never like those sites, although i do accept it's how things are gonna be. For a while anyway. Adapting to them is one thing, actually liking anything about them in another...
