Awesome Morning Protein Shake : Premixed

My life revolves around these protein shakes right now...

but just wanted to share.. for those of you trying to get a morning routine going with breakfast... or an afterworkout shake...

CostCo has the Premier Protein Shakes... 160 calories... 30grams of protein.. 1 sugar, 3 fibers, 5 carbs... I think you get like 18 for $25ish dollars...

They are awesome and don't taste like ass...

I also like:
Syntha 6

For when I'm bored with the other stuff... but the syntha's are a little high in calories for me to be messing with...

but the premier stuff is so easy to get in.. in the morning...

nails are nicer..
skin is perfectly clear..

The raw egg thing scares me with salmonella or ecoli or whatever it is..

maybe when Im further along, I'll give it a shot... I hate taking in all these fake sugars that are in all the protein drinks..

Thanks.

thats not really a protein shake..... sure it has protein... but it also has high carbs and fat most likely

Actually having the VSG lowers the risk of stomach cancer by like 50ish percent... There was a John Hopkins study about it last month..

and can't say I know of one VSG patient with kidney/liver failure...

but thanks for your concern! :)

You could do it with egg whites... I think some of the more organic type people do it... with the free range eggs... but it is a lot of fat... and it would depend on the milk used..

A lot of people are using the almond milks now... but I've not experimented much.

If you eat 2 raw eggs a day for 20 years you have 50% chance of coming across one egg contaminated with salmonella. That is if you eat battery eggs, from free range the chances are almost zero.

Also Salmonella scares everybody but it is found almost everywhere, and is just as likely, or more likely, to proliferate on cooked food kept in the fridge. Infection is normally no more than mild gastric symptoms...

It is also better balanced than a premixed milk shake, easy to digest, has tons of vitamins, won't mess up your kidney/liver or leave you feeling like you've just swallowed a brick:thumbsup

Too much fat, and not enough protein.

Robbie 07-25-2009 10:42 AM

Good for you PSSuperstars!

Excessive weight is the main health problem in this country and as your doctor probably already told you leads to just about every bad thing that can happen to you.

I have never had any weight issues...but I've been a gym rat for the last 14 years. Here's my tip for the protein shake.

Go to GNC and buy a big jug of whey protein powder. Isolate is the best. Get the vanilla flavor.

Then stop off at the grocery store and grab a gallon of orange juice.

I'm not fond of drinking milk because it makes my stomach feel too heavy. So I mix the vanilla flavored protein with orange juice and it comes out tasting like an orange julius.

It tastes great, doesn't make you feel "heavy" and I also toss in a banana with it in the blender for added flavor and nutrients.

5 grams of fat in an egg, if you count the yolk.

If that is too much for you, your workouts aren't hard enough.

By the way, if you like it and it works for you, that's all that counts.

Did you ever try exercise and eating a better diet before surgery?

Doesn't have to be both yolks and full fat milk.

Whey is great, but I still can't digest it fast enough, feel bloated.

Magazines also want to please their advertisers when they compare different proteins, real world results are often somewhat different, this works better for me than any powder I ever bought :thumbsup

Yeah. Two years of on and off diets special made by a nutritionist who specialized in hormone issues... Never losing more than 30lbs.... I eat healthy... Just too much... And could never handle smaller portions... Couldnt stick with it happily... Spent about 10k on the life coaching for that...

Then spent about 17k on a personal trainer.. And let me tell ya, Im one FIT little fat girl... But that wouldve only lasted so long... I may have been able to run and deadlift and bike and spin.... But its killing my joints longterm...

Now i have a " sleeve" that holds at most, ever, two cups of food... And thats two years from now with stretching...

The good food choices i was making before will now be portion controlled and i will be full...

And i am planning a half marathon in November....

No doubt you are fit for a fat girl. But by throwing money at everything seems you are looking the easy way everytime. You need someone to be there holding your hand telling you what to eat, someone to hold your hand exercising, those people are usually always less dedicated.

And be realistic you may have ate a good amount of healthy food but you also ate a lot of shit, very few people get so fat they need surgery without eating a lot of shit.

Still on liquids and mushies daily.. But feel great.. Cannot wait to get back to working out...

Also want to get certified and do training and support groups and nutrition stuff for women/men who have had the surgery or are interested...
