Beers In The Freezer - How Long Until They Are VERY Cold?
I just put room temperature Heineken bottles in the freezer. I'm thinking 2 hours until they are very cold, but not yet frozen.
Any advice, based on experience? |
Heineken (or any good beer) is to be consumed slightly chilled. Not ice cold.

coors light has color coded beer cans... blue mountains means cold beer. shameless plug for a company i do not represent nor drink their beer
15 min if you have a good freezer.
throw it in a cooler 1/2 water, put beer in, put in salt and add ice, it will be cold in a few minutes.
I'll test the first one out at the 1 hour mark. Mugs are in the freezer as well. I find myself watching the clock. Is that the sign of an alcoholic?
30min should be enough.
In Canada we put the beer on the back steps for 10-15 mins. and let Jack Frost do the rest. :1orglaugh
Actually, our local beer store does a good job of keepin' the beer damn cold - good to drink right away. |
Okay, first beer at 1 hour in the freezer. It is cold. Not bad.
I'll test another one out in 15 minutes, and see if it is noticeably colder. |
45mins ..1 hr tops
The key is to put it in your freezer where the fan blows the cold air in. If the bottle is next the fan, it speeds up the chill process by leagues. I set my timer for 10 minutes yesterday with two beers in there and they were certifiably cold. I have a regular fridge freezer, nothing fancy. You might need to leave the door open for a minute to get the fan started.
If I were to put them in my deep freezer, they would take a few hours. Another good way is under cold running water, or in a bucket with water and ice. |
ice water is still the quickest method
Okay, new beer at 1 hour 20 minutes. This is a very cold beer. I'm moving all of the remaining freezer beers to the fridge now, just to be safe.
Another successful experiment! GOD BLESS EVERYONE! |

A neighbour used to have an old Coca-Cola chest freezer - kept beer chilled in water and when it came out it was cold enough to hurt your teeth and freeze your throat all the way down. :) |
you'd be surprised what cold water coming out of a faucet with a beer being rolled in your hands will do

Ice water. Salt. Put THAT in the freezer. 30 mins.
Anyone have one of those new fridges with the superfast cooling compartment?

I have a regular Kenmore fridge bought in the last 10 years, simple enough. It makes stuff cold. |

I was thinking cold freon tubes or something. |
2 hours ? if you like frozen beer ...

salt lowers the freezing point of ice. I don't know if it's faster but it will definitely make it colder
damn and i dont drink anymore ill have a fuckin tea

good beer should be served around 40 degrees farenheit :2 cents: |
15-20 mins is the perfect time
I think 2 hours is too much!
depends on your freezer :)
15-20 mins is cold enough to enjoy, by the time you're done the others are even colder.
watch it man, they could blow up
way to long
2 hours in a deep freezer should turn them to beercicles. I wouldn't leave beer in mine for more than half an hour.
In the freezer of the fridge maybe 45 minutes tops. As others have said a cooler works best, pile of ice in there, a little water, shove in the beers and in about 20 mins to half an hour you're good to start drinking. If you're using a frozen beer mug so much the better. |

it'll cool faster if it's touching the sides, put them lying down, butt to the back, 30 min should be more than enough
Feezer?? No no no!!

A couple hours or so....
I throw like 4-5 in freezer.. drink one warm... than grab another from freezer.. drink that one and repeat till i notice they are cold enough and move them to the fridge with the rest. or just use bucket of ice
Salted ice water for the win. Five or 10 minutes or so? The salt is the key.
"When crushed ice combines with equal amounts and water, the water's temperature usually cools to about 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the melting point of ice, and the freezing point of water. Adding salt to the icy water, however, actually cools the water below 32 degrees fahrenheit" So the melted ice from salt is colder than the ice itself. A can or bottle floating in that is chilly quick. |
Stick it in Ice water for 20 min
2 h isn`t little...?
They tested a shitload of methods on mythbusters way back, not sure which was fastest but :/
