What host has the best price PERIOD

I'm looking for 5 servers, a 500mbps total monthly commit. The servers don't have to be brand new but need to be decent. Non-managed. The only time you will hear from me is if a server is down. No bullshit hidden costs, tricks, or attempts to get me to commit to more than 500mbps per month. And ABSOULTELY no hosting sales reps that have a reputation for bouncing from host to host. Just because you get fired doesnt mean I'm gonna move all my shit to your new employer. lol. Please post your offer here. Thanks

fris 08-02-2009 02:11 PM

www.yellowfiber.net zak hosts a lot of very large tube sites, he could hook you up.

On a 500mbps commit?

Good Luck finding that, A certain tube site does 15gbps and they only get it for $3/mbps.

500mbps is way too low for that.

Hey Tom,

$2k/mo flat, $0 setup fee, no contracts, and you'll get Remote Reboot and KVMoIP with each of the five servers, so your guys will always have full console level access.

Hit me up to work out exact server specs, and I can have you online as soon as Wednesday of this week.

Feel free to test our speeds here: --> http://www.dedico.com/speedtest.html

We'll also assist with any (or all) of migration tasks needed at no extra charge.

MovieMaster 08-02-2009 03:29 PM

Pure BW prices are different. You can get Level 3, 10G right now for 22.5K....so that's 2.25 per meg. He.Net will sell you a 10G port for 15K.

But ad other things on top of it.

1. The CX to your rack
2. How about a IPS / IDS in front.
3. Layer 3 Router and know how of BGP, getting more then one route etc
4. How about a FCP

When you add all this 500 megs is going to end up costing you $. Also is this 5 * 100 meg ports or an aggregate because when you do 100 meg you are not going to push 100 meg ....but more like 60.

You price for a 500 meg caped port vs 500 meg commit on a GIG will be different.

DEDICO DEDICO DEDICO.. Lol.. No seriously, I switched to Dedico a couple of weeks ago, the best hosts ever :) I'd def suggest getting in touch :) xx

Seeing as how I employ none of their failed ethics, I assure you I will! :-)

Phil21 08-02-2009 03:56 PM

Figure I'll throw my hat into the ring :)

On a 600Gbps (actual utilization to the Internet) network:

500Mbit commit @ $4/Mbit - $2,000/mo

Dell SC1425 Dual 2.8Ghz Xeon / 8GB RAM / 2x250GB SATA - $99.95/mo
Supermicro Quad Core L5410 / 8GB RAM / 2x250GB SATA - $149.95/mo

Pick and choose the servers, of course. Each server is on remote reboot, and 1000Mbps ports.

So, $2500/mo roughly.

phil at reflected dot net if interested.

Good luck on your search!

-Phil

QFT :)

I know I'm not the cheapest, nor do I want to be. But I AM, imho, offering the best price for the quality of service that will be rendered.

Damn, beat me to it.. since the thread was strictly about price, you can't beat them! Of course, you can't expect your server to be online either, but that's another story :)

Make sure you chat with T as NatNet is who I'm %100 happy there.

WiredGuy 08-02-2009 04:50 PM

I think you'd need to specify the hardware specs. Big difference between 1 cpu 1 gig of ram servers and dual quadcore 8 gig of ram. Especially on 5 boxes, that can sway the price by a grand or more per month.

a lot of key factors here, also theres a difference between someone commiting for 500M vs 10G. Do you want to comit to someone for 10g? thats a lot of bandwidth and will get you a lot better rates than 500M.

Just because a host buys 10G commits + and gets great deals doesn't mean you have to. We have overhead costs, such as hardware, employees and other things to pay for.

Aw hell who am I guessing. Hosting is just a cash printing machine, hell we make up our own prices don't we? :disgust

Hey Choker. First, I appreciate you are looking for a great price, and your candor and honesty in your post. We would be happy to put together an extremely aggressive quote for your services, but price will not be the only criteria on our offer, as I am sure it is not the only criteria in your decision. When I ran an ISP in the 1990s some customers used to think that my net connection was free, and the revenue from their monthly payments was pure profit. At the time I was paying around $USD95 per gigabyte inbound, or an effective rate of $30400 per Mbit per month. (Yes, that's THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS). Of course I didn't even have 1 megabit of bw back then... and the $95 per gig didn't include link costs either. My net profit would have been <5% of rev.

Tim 08-03-2009 03:18 AM
