[BIZ] iphone and adult apps

With all that is going on with apple and their approval process and rules for the iphone apps, i was wondering have paysites/entreprenuers been creating websites that are designed to look like iphone apps, but web-based through safari?

meaning, not use a WAPable site, but physically constructed to look like an app, but be purely web-based?

the revenue streams come through traditional CC processing on the page, rather than like an auto-detection from itunes account if it were an app..but then you could create alot more adult specific or dating/sexting type sites/applications.

I know people are "optimizing" sites to run on iphone for pics and video, but i was thinking more of actual applications, whether like a "hook up" dating type site to video/pic video viewing built from the ground up for the iphone user, rather than just a rehashing of a current site just to fit in the viewing area.

Fight the apple reach-around!

I don't have an iPhone yet.. waiting for my current contract to expire...

but I am guessing those are paysites designed to work on iphone screen sizes.

i am referring to creating applications that mimic iPhone apps, that would be adult-oriented, but on a web server platform, rather than on iPhone OS.. since many internet enabled iphone apps are usually light, making http api calls to internet and formatting to the screen (ie. aol)

an adult app for the iphone would be gold

so much for the "click if over 18" warning pages.

I know that there hasn't been a legal challenge to having a disclaimer on the entrance, with the "click if over 18", but things like Larry Walters "birthday verifier" and putting up disclaimers do provide road blocks of defense while in court that you did try to warn adults and children about your product.

One attorney told me that being able to demonstrate that you did all that you could, might help in a jury case.

When i click on the slutty8teen link, i was able to go right into the porn.

I have an iDream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold this porn app to be self-evident, that all apps are created equal.

I've got an adult iPhone webapp system built that's far better than anything out there ;) Slide shows with tap to pause tap to continue, ratings, favorite marking, model marking, etc... I've got a few other projects in the queue before I launch it but eventually it but I'll make a post when it's done :D

All whitelabels have the option to go to a warning page. If the webmaster chooses to bypass the warning page, then we send it right to the index page.

I chose no to have a warning page on my whitelabel. We have the option of having one or not. The webmaster gets to choose.

Yeah. You could install a script to make your site look a little like an iphone app. But you could just also MAKE an iphone app.

Or ask me to whitelabel our one for you.

We have 4 others submitted already, which are much more advanced that this. This one is unique because it has Babe of The Day pics every day a new pic.

http://www.babeapps.com/babestations...ters/index.php

If you want, we'll whitelabel it for you for a 70/30 rev share in your favour. And yes favour has a U in. I'm British. :)

why oh why is adult so interested in getting adult iphone apps? why not just keep running them as websites? having an App as Damian can attest means Apple owns you. So you hate visa checking your site now add Apple to that wont that be fun plus you get to pay them for the privilege and they can pull you at any point.

Just my thoughts I think "adult" apps are a waste, I think Damian is doing it right non nude babe or interesting cool things the rest are just wasting time and money.

I am working on several iphone apps just as you describe and more.

i guess the one main advantage of having the app in the itunes store, is the one click buy, so its easy to collect the $1.

"micro payments" are indeed what is needed for the ability to monetize content, but that would require some kind of wallet system, and microsoft pushed so hard for passport and it just didn't get there.

itunes is the wallet, so i can see the push to want to have adult apps on there, but Apple is clearly not allowing that, and if they did allow some in, they could change their mind any day and yank it out.

with dhtml/ajax/javascript , graphic design, and backend data serving, web pages are able to act more like software. some client systems i have designed used a web browser, but acted like software, with the easy ability to update via updating web code, rather than going with installed code.

i see the same opportunity in making iphone apps, but are built on web server technology, rather than iPhone OS and API.

Its good to see some are thinking this way.... i haven't seen any iphone apps that were outside of itunes, other than porn sites wrapped in iphone screen resolutions.
