I have a mainstream site too. When people ask what I do I just say "I do computer work".
If they ask more I tell them "I make websites, and I have a site about ______"
They usually stop there.

Our daughters refer to my job as "he's a photographer."

They just don't know the specifics of what it involves.

Internet marketing.

I hate when I tell people, I run some websites and a dvd distribution company and they ask me "oh really, what websites?" or "what kind of dvds?" So recently I've just been telling people I run a licensing company even though that is only like 20% of what i do but its just much easier.

I usually say I am web developer and do all sorts of jobs.

If they keep bugging me, I usually go all technical on them until its over there head.

Although, my son will be 12 just after Christmas and I figure now's as good a time as any to get him making some real money. I'm gonna start him out slow and throw him onto GFY where he won't be out of place.

years ago when the monkey was younger (she's 9 now) she asked what I did and I would just show her some of the mainstream sites I did (food joints, clubs, local town stuff etc) but then I stopped doing those types of sites to do the porn full time, and over the past year or so it's gotten quite funny...

kids dont need to know until they're old enough to rationalize whats up on some level. adults on the other hand, i'm straight up with and quit ducking everyones questions after all these years. its usually quicker than explaining some runaround story about you doing internet marketing and studio photography

My son knows I work on the internet doing websites. Doesn't know the specifics and doesn't need to at this time in his life.

My Kids think I'm writer, selling blogs and stories online n stuff.

And when I have a cam show or something, I just say,

Always keep at least one mainstream site to show people who ask what you do if they are the sort you can't actually tell. They will, of course, ask you how they can do it too but that can be easily enough deflected.
