Dear god.

I have a bottle of Catalina, dated 'best by' 08/09. I don't like it that much, too sweet.

PurrrsianPussyKat 08-31-2009 05:35 PM

We eat a lot of salad, so none of it hangs around very long.

Honez 08-31-2009 05:43 PM

Oil and vinegar here so no dressing in the fridge :)

Sosa 08-31-2009 05:53 PM

Elli 08-31-2009 06:10 PM

dangit...

MaDalton 08-31-2009 06:10 PM

i have used bbq sauce by accident that was 3 years overdue - i am still here. as long as it doesnt jump out of the bottle...

cherrylula 08-31-2009 06:22 PM

I make my own probably once a week, and we eat it all the time. :)

docputer 08-31-2009 07:36 PM

My mother always had all kinds of outdated stuff, from salad dressing to sour cream. Her oldest salad dressing was about 6 year old. She said that expiration dates were only there to sell product

which is the truth.. but damn 6 years?

hjnet 09-01-2009 02:10 AM

I recently found some corn-flakes that expired in 1978 :)

munki 09-01-2009 02:16 AM

Found an unopened bottle of antipasto salad dressing made by wishbone, expiry 2006... we apparently we're not fans before even opening. Dressing... meet trash.

I just buy the packets from the salad bar now.

This thread made me gag though ... when I was a younger bachelor, I hard curdling milk sitting in my fridge on more than a few occasions.

To give you an idea how I lived back then, I also had an unopened box of new pots and pans sitting on the counter for NINE months.

Things are much different these days...

candyflip 09-01-2009 06:05 AM

I just dumped one with a 2007 date on it over the weekend.

Sucks too because it was tasty and they don't make it any more.

Phallus Fondue 09-01-2009 12:11 PM

all salad dressing in this house is made here. oldest we have is 3 days old vinegar with a couple crushed garlic cloves in it. we start a new one of those every other day and mix the oldest one up into a vinegrette for that nights and the folloing nights salad. somehow this is one of the most structured things we have in the kitchen.

media 09-01-2009 12:16 PM

At the tattoo shop I used to work at they had a dead leopard gecko in the freezer that had been in there for 5 years... it was pretty weird.. it was sealed in a ziplock back and was preserved pretty crazy.. almost like mummified..

We also had a mummified cat sitting on the top of that fridge.. the owner was kinda a freak.. eventually I threw them out.

Jakke PNG 09-01-2009 12:35 PM

I always make vinagrette myself, usually just enough for that one time. I can't remember the last time I bought salad dressing.

I saw that. "if not puffed out, i'll eat it" ugh...and the way she desperatly tried to save years old food was freakish.

Thats funny because just last night as I shook some pepper onto my taters, I realised it was the same pepper I'd bought back in the mid 90's probably. :uhoh

Just bought some new dressing though.
