Cherokee server
Is anybody running the cherokee server?
http://www.cherokee-project.com/ I wonder if that server is competitive in comparison to other servers? And how difficult would it be to switch from a server running apache to another server, like cherokee or lighttp? |
I've heard that the jury is still out on this one, mainly because of load testing. But I don't know anyone who actually runs it.
i wouldn't use it over nginx
Running apache for the php processing and lighttpd for images and streaming here.
The embedded stats look ok, but I don't find anyone running that software to stream lots of movies around. |
Much easier then apache and nginx,i was running it few days, but then it failed and cpu usage went to 100 % so i dropped it since then.Nginx do the job.
Never bothered with it. Not stable enough and the support for the third party tools are more of a hack than RoR. It can go to hell until it sucks less.
Oh wow.. a http server that actually still crashes.... yikes.
How good can it be if its named after a fucking indian?
I find using lighttpd for flash ,streaming and phones very promising,
nginx i just love for most other things, multiple apache installs I am a big fan of as well. I would not use it, if you need more performance, drop me a line, I will assess your situation for free. |
