The First Song You Remember Hearing...

I remember sitting in the back seat of a car, when I was wee old, smelling the smell of a new car leather interior and listening to this on an AM station:

I remembered the song years later when I heard a cover tune of it - it was one of the first songs which I learned to play on guitar:

Time to wax nostalgic people... :)

I didn't recall that song. However, I bet that Led Zeppelin or the Honey Drippers (Page-Plant) could have done a better cover of that cover song:

If you don't mind me asking, where are you from? Why I ask, is that it seems like a rather obscure Elvis tune.

To be truthful, the first time I took an interest in the 'charts'...

It was...

I even sang it at the school talent show! aged about 6 !!! LOL

PS: Great thread... I loves myself a lil bit of nostalgia!

Portsmouth in England. :thumbsup I was about 4 or 5 on my school holidays and Elvis films were being played on the tv every morning... I was hooked & he got me into playing music & a great influence too. My Mum says I demanded (with a screaming fit) his album and I bought it with my pocket money. (mum took me to the shop) Better than sweets :winkwink:

Mine was from the same year - Mack the Knife :)

I recall hearing this on an outdoor skating rink in Toronto (might've been Nathan Philips Square in the late 60s).

And I don't recall the date or place - but roughly the same era (RIP Mama Cass)

For some reason this comes to mind 2 Live Crew - Banned in the USA :(

I'd have to really think about it though.
