New York
Hey, I went to New York on Sept. 29. I was walking around and I saw a big poster for Larry Flint on one street. I walked around in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In the night I saw a woman piss in public near Penn Station. I went to see Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Williamsburg Music Hall. Unfortunately the tickets were sold out and a scalper sold me a fake ticket that I couldn't use to get inside. So I just waited outside for little and heard the singing / music. I got a few death threats and heard people talking about selling guns and popping people. Anyway, I took a taxi back safely and I'm back to Toronto. New York is fun, but a lot of people lie. I also saw the wall with the 9/11 heroes, etc. I saw the statue of Liberty, and some other sights. I love Karen O. I don't really stalk her, I just follow her around sometimes.

Sounds like you had a great time.

You don't want to look like a tourist anywhere you are. Don't ask people in the street for anything...they'll just take you for a sucker. Walk into a pizza joint buy a slice and chat up the worker there for info.
|
why did you get death threats?
|
Karen O is really hot! I used to see her around New York a lot before she was as famous as she is now. New York is actually one of the more honest cities in the world. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. In the future- don't buy tickets from a scalper! :)

Sorry about selling you that fake ticket, yo. But I needed the scratch for crack. Dig it.
|
That sounds like NY about 10 or more years ago... Penn Station is now patrolled by the National Guard and shit. You can't even curse too loud around that bitch let alone take a piss near it. Nobody walks around talking about selling guns like it's nothing anymore, especially around no weird foreigner looking visitor dudes. Our gun laws are fucking sick homie. Stop lyin'. You ain't got to lie to kick it fam.

That show was in Williamsburg- which is mostly just full of hipsters. The gun talk was probably just them being really ironic.

My advice for anyone visiting is know somebody local and go where they tell you to go and not what some guide you bought in Kansas or heard on Oprah told you to go. Real NYers will let you know the real deal... (by "Real NYers" I mean people who have lived here at least 8-10 years) |
New York is always good advanture :)
