GFY Xbox players... I need help
 

Xbox 360, some not all games freeze about 4 minutes in.

What do I do?

if recently purchased, i would exchange it asap

do you get any red rings on the box, does the xbox freeze or do you get an error "cannot read disk"

no red ring

games down loaded play fine

just will freeze when playing an actual game

okay the problem is your dvd rom drive in the system is going bad, unless your good at taking shit apart i do not advise doing this yourself and any warranty you have will be void. If you have warranty i suggest sending it in, if not take it to a local repair shop and have them replace the drive for you. Unless you know how to hack the rom of a rom drive you cannot just put any rom drive in the system.

Is it always the same games that lock or random games?

When you say downloaded games play fine, is it a modded xbox or just downloading demos and stuff from Live?

install your games to the HD...but you probably want to get a 120gb if you dont have one

You've sucked in too much dust and the unit is over heating. If you don't blast some compressed air in there to clean it out, you will have a red ring issue to solve soon enough.

Open it up and clean it out if you can. If not, just blast the air in through the side.

This is not the case at all. The drives don't gradually "go bad", they straight up crap out.

A cleaning might help, but his problem is overheating.

get a replacement xbox or get it 'x-clamped' by someone in the know
