I strongly dislike waiting for return phone calls...

I'm waiting for the bank to call me back about a loan I put through for a car this morning and its driving me nuts. The lady told me she would call me back "in about an hour" which was over an hour ago...

Makes me nervous, but I keep telling myself that shes just busy... I feel like im 16 again waiting for a girl to call me :1orglaugh

CYF 10-21-2009 12:59 PM

I hate waiting for anything.

fatfoo 10-21-2009 12:59 PM

Yeah, that's cute.

BFT3K 10-21-2009 01:00 PM

I would like to add something to this thread.

What is that... oh, okay, hold on... I'll be right back.

I hate it when people do that. My real estate guy does it all the time and it drives me crazy!!

96ukssob 10-21-2009 09:34 PM

Argh, I'm going crazy!

Dealership called me back asking whats going on and I didnt have an answer. They have someone looking at the same car who made an offer on it tonight. I told them I'm waiting for the bank to call me back.

This stuff gets under my skin. The loan officer said she would call me back in about an hour... over two hours went by no call back, so I left a friendly message asking if they can let me know whats going on so I can let the dealership know... no return call.

Now I have to get an answer and check to the dealership tomorrow of they will sell it to someone else. I can't blame them, its business but sucks that I have to wait around. Its not like the bank doesnt have an answer, they DO, just need the loan officer assigned to my loan to call back... ARGH!!!!

I'm mostly irritated because it took me weeks to finally find this specific year, make and model with low mileage and the options I wanted and cant get an answer to whats going on.

mmcfadden 10-21-2009 09:37 PM

i also had to wait today... irrated the piss out of me

i signed up for another CL account and they had the nerve to ask for a legit phone number... I got one hooked up but took me about 2 fuckin hours to do it... geez the nerve

Uh, sounds like you've never dealt with a car salesman before. This is a classic sales tactic, and they're full of shit.

This is how they get you to buy a car.

With EVERY SINGLE CAR I've ever talked to a dealer about, they always say "ahhh... a couple is talking to our Finance Manager, (or Sales Manager, or whatever) about this exact car. This is our most in-demand model that we've got on the lot."

The funny thing, though, is that every car I've ever been interested in buying is the most expensive one they sell... and also the absolute lowest volume car they have. They always refer to it as "an extremely high-volume car of limited quantity, and this car will be the last one we get for the next 12 months."

Everything they say is a total lie.

Crunked 10-21-2009 10:18 PM

Sorry you had to wait and well from the look of it maybe never heard back....What kind of car was it?

Bman 10-21-2009 10:20 PM

Hopefully its worth it!

LiveDose 10-21-2009 10:27 PM

Are the days of sign and drive over? I've never had trouble getting a car loan.

I am not a patient person when it comes to inportant matters. When I need answers, I want answers.

I think the guy is telling the truth because we did talk to someone else who asked if I was the guy that emailed them about the car.

They just got the car in two days ago. He really has no reason to lie because ive already got the work order and everything from him and said ill take the car, but i know what your talking about. when i went to get my other car a few months ago same BS... "i cant lower the price because we have other people interested..." and when I walk away they say "well, if you will buy it today, ill give you a deal so we dont have to keep it on our lot"

the rate is a LOT better to go through a credit union I belong too, plus its $0 out of pocket to take the car. the used car rate is around like 7-9% and we got a rate of 3.74% plus there is no payments due for 30 days... little extra stuff like that is worth it, plus they put the money in my account and I write a check to the dealership which gives me a little more negotiation room since they dont know what I was approved for.

so tomorrow we'll see if its a good or bad day :winkwink:

rowan 10-21-2009 11:15 PM

Is it possible to sign the contract but include a "subject to finance by x/x/x" clause? That way you've got the car so long as you're approved in a timely manner.

LiveDose 10-21-2009 11:22 PM

I see your point. Good luck with the answer!

I asked them about it when I went to check out the car monday, but since they are 30+ miles away, they wont release the car without a check. I could of given them a personal check there, but if for some reason I wouldnt get approved, then we would be in a tough spot and i wouldnt want them cashing the check and leaving me all but broke.

I did the app on tuesday morning, but took the lady a while to get back to me but said i would have an answer on wednesday... then wednesday she called saying she needed the exact figures from the dealership and would call me back in an hour... that was the last I heard

After Shock Media 10-22-2009 12:47 AM

Sounds like two things.
Car salesguy is more than likely bluffing regardless. Unless other person has more money and then why even call?
Lady is busting her ass trying to get you financed. She thought it would not be that difficult but got rejected. So she is fishing for the best rates she can get you. She has the incentive to sign you.

It's possible that they need to hold any deposit in trust until a contract becomes unconditional (ie, when you receive finance approval). Check your local laws...

rowan 10-22-2009 01:07 AM

Hang on... rereading your reply... I was suggesting that you sign a contract TO BUY in the near future, not that you drive off without paying... the contract secures the purchase (subject to finance)

MrMaxwell 10-22-2009 03:48 AM

Well
If you promise me a callback
And it's not within ten minutes
When you call back I probably will be doing something else
And I'll never even know that you called

96ukssob 10-22-2009 09:52 AM

WOW I am heated... I called this morning and they said they need to wait for the loan officer assigned to my loan to call me back, but she wont be back until Monday!!! The girl told me she would have one of the supervisors call me instead to finalize everything... that was 3 hours ago

When I did talk to her, she said I was approved but she just needed to get it signed off by the underwriter and get the paperwork ready. So my guess is she was waiting on that, but she when I did talk to her she said she was just putting it on their desk and then would call me back shortly.

The dealership called me back this morning, and it was the GM asking whats going on because they have someone else who is willing to buy the car today from them, but giving me the opportunity but I have to get back to them.

I gave them the number to the bank to call, but he said they can't call. Otherwise they want a $500 deposit on the car, but its non-refundable which really makes me nervous...

its going to be a stressful day :mad:

Trust me when I tell you that this is a sales tactic that works wonders. If they actually had someone else willing to buy the car, they actually would just sell it to them... instead of calling you and telling you about this supposed person willing to buy the car.

Look at how you're stressing out about it. Do you think the car dealership doesn't know what their words do to people? This is just part of their song and dance.

You're playing into their tactics like they want you to.

Don't fall for it. My bets are that the car will still be there on Monday. Tell the car dealer to choke on a cock. :2 cents:

96ukssob 10-22-2009 12:02 PM

FINALLY got a call back!!! :GFYBand

the lady said she had it on her notes that we were going to setup a time to come in and sign the paperwork to pick up the check. wow, this confusion on their end caused nothing but headaches for me.

she apologized that no one called me back to let me know, but she said that the notes showed that the original loan officer did give us confirmation of the approval.

Geez, what a day

I talked to the sales guy and he said they wanted to make sure I was actually going to buy it as they has this happen last week with the same car, but did say that someone from out of state did email them and they wanted to let him know whether or not to come in to see it or not.

Of course the car dealer said that. NM you will never get it.
