To all hosting gurus

Just wondering how much wordpress install one dedicated server Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz with 1GB RAM can handle it.

Let's say that one wordpress install got 5-6 plugins (Super Catche include) and the comment posting is disabled. I'm not talking about heavy traffic blogs max 500 uniques/day per blog.

I have a similar server setup, mine has 2 gigs of ram though.

There are about 5 or 6 blogs on it, each gets a couple hundred unique viewers a day. Two of the blogs get 550-650 a day. The blogs have 2-5 pictures per post.

My server handles the load just fine. Not sure the max amount of WP blogs you'd want to use, because I haven't had more than that on this machine. I would feel fine going with 20+ no problem, and more would probably be fine.

I'm moving to a bigger server this next week though, I found a good company to switch to.

no problem :thumbsup

That machine also has a bunch of other stuff on it besides the blogs. I would feel confident running 20+ on it no problem.

You might want to up your ram a little bit tho.

You could probably run close to 100 on that set up if you optimize MySQL.

Good to hear about that anything over 50 is acceptable. What do you mean about optimization on mysql.

optimizing mysql means tweaking it so that it runs faster and can handle more connections

We have several customers with older servers that have that setup with more traffic. You will be fine, just make sure things are optimized and you will be good to go.

Or we can set you up on our VPS server for $100/month and you'll be able to handle 1000 visitors and scale your site as you pick up more traffic. Hit me up on ICQ: 4930562 or check out www.RealityCheckNetwork.com

probably a lot.... more than 1.000 for sure...
but it'll need some fine tuning...

sandman! 10-23-2009 07:04 PM

i would spend the few $$$ more to get 2 gigs ram...

Iron Fist 10-23-2009 09:51 PM

Unless my load is like 50, I keep piling more and more on :)
