Isotretinoin is fucking amazing

My whole back was covered with acne for years. It looked like a fucking WARZONE and no matter how confident I am, I felt fucking horrible taking my shirt off.

I got sick of it and finally took my lazy ass to the doctor. I went to a dermatologist and he put me on Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) for about 4-5 months and it's almost completely gone now. Fuck yeah!

:thumbsup

My best friend growing up ended up having an acne explosion one summer. He went from not having a single zit up until like the 9th grade, and then the summer between 8th and 9th grade his face exploded. His mother got him on Accutane, and he went from a face full of zits to never getting a single zit again the next 10 years I knew him.

I do remember he had all kinds of crazy restrictions when he was on it, like not being able to go out in the sun because it would give him a bad reaction. He also was constantly thirsty and felt dried out...

What happens when you stop taking it?
Has the doctor told you what the pill is giving you that you are not getting naturally through your diet?

Congrats! I used to get mild breakouts on my shoulders years ago when I was bodybuilding and considered taking it but my doctor told me that unless it was severe, it wasnt worth the risks. I have heard about the nasty side effects. Did you have any?

I believe the accutane contains something similar to Vitamin A, which reduces the size and production of oil glands. The results tend to be somewhat permanent.

Yeah, there's definitely a lot of downsides. My whole body seems to dry out very fast. I drink a lot more than usual and I seem to get a headache fast in the daylight, cause my eyes are so sensitive. I also have to get my blood checked every month to make sure my liver is not taking a bad beating.

But then again, living with acne for years (6-7 years to be exact) is a fucking pain and makes it very easy to not give a shit about any of that. The worst thing is people see acne as something dirty that people who do not take care of theirselves have. I wash my hands at least 5 times a day, shower daily with not too much soap (yes it's bad for the skin), and generally eat pretty healthy. I've used TONS of lotions and other bullshit, probably wasted close to $1k on random products that claimed to do wonders against acne.

Ah very interesting, thanks. I get occasional breakouts, but nothing too severe. Maybe I'll find some vegetables high in vitamin A and see what that does.

Yep, it contains a large amount of Vitamin A. Read more about it here:

Usually the doctor will only prescribe if it as the last available option, when non of the antibiotics yield positive results.

I never had horrible acne when I was younger, but nothing seemed to work for the little bit I did have. I was put on accutane for about 6 months and it cleared up completely. I had no negative side effects. The doctor does require blood work every month to check liver activity.

I've heard there can be alot of side effects and it might not be the greatest for liver health either
