Package missing off porch...

Got home tonight from a trip to my girlfriends parents house in LA. The day before, we received a delivery confirmation saying the Blu-ray player we ordered was waiting on the porch.

We got home tonight, and it's not here.

If we call FedEx and tell them it wasn't here... what will happen? Will they tell us to GFY? Should the issue be resolved through Amazon?

JuiceMonkey 11-30-2009 03:09 AM

Was there insurance? Why would you leave it out there for a day?

Carmine Raguso 11-30-2009 03:09 AM

As long as there was a signature required and they dropped it anyways with nobody home, I would say it's Fed Ex's fault. Call them and find out I guess. Why ask here? lol

Apparently, you can not read.

xenigo 11-30-2009 03:18 AM

It was odd that it was delivered on Saturday. We didn't ask, request, or expect Saturday delivery. We were expecting it on Monday.

Now it's gone and I'm kinda pissed off.

Anyone ever had this happen? How was it resolved?

Ace_luffy 11-30-2009 05:27 AM

really, sad,

slapass 11-30-2009 05:32 AM

if you bought it with VISA, you should have it insured by them.

Domain Diva 11-30-2009 05:44 AM

Call Fedex..tell them that the package is missing as they scan and get details of who they left it with...that should give you the first lead to go on and take it from there.

Im sure they got a sig as ususally they dont just leave stuff unsigned for.

No company allows a package to be left on porches anymore???

Signatures are needed! :thumbsup No worries, ring them & sort it.:2 cents:

_Richard_ 11-30-2009 08:56 AM

they left the package on the porch?

slapass 11-30-2009 08:57 AM

Normal procedure with home deliveries is to leave it on the porch. Don't you guys shop online?

L-Pink 11-30-2009 08:59 AM

I get stuff left on my porch all the time.

It is obvious neither of you live in the US or use FedEX.

VikingMan 11-30-2009 09:04 AM

move out of da hood

My neighbors would never steal my packages that get left at my door.

Tom_PM 11-30-2009 09:06 AM

All the major shippers ever do is leave them on the porch unless the item was specifically requested to be signature, or adult signature required at checkout.

Second choice is to leave it with a neighbor, in which case they leave you an official notice that they've done so, and which address of the neighbor and when. Usually on a bright chartreuse or day glo orange sticker right on your door so you can see if from space.

Third choice is to notify you that you were not home for the third and last time, they didnt leave it, they didnt leave it with a neighbor, and you must pick it up at the warehouse.

brassmonkey 11-30-2009 09:07 AM

Not true, UPS leave me packages all the time without signatures last item was a Epson 3800 worth about $1200.00. I did have a Nikon stolen a few years back. Nikon didn't insure it so they had to replace a $4000 camera at their cost. Fed Ex deliver in San Diego on Saturdays so i assume they deliver in other states as well. :2 cents:

Good news. I was looking out the side window earlier and saw it sitting between my car and the gate. Went to check it out, and sure enough... it was the missing Blu-Ray player.

Glad it wasn't stolen. I have renewed my faith in the world.

baddog 11-30-2009 07:14 PM

Congrats to the winners.

That's messed up... never had that happen.

tehHinjew 11-30-2009 08:12 PM

something you would expect from ups lol

brassmonkey 11-30-2009 09:54 PM

my next order im getting that signature shit its like 70 cents

rowan 11-30-2009 10:08 PM

I've had a "recipient must sign" delivery left on my doorstep, with the online tracking showing it had been received and signed for. Drivers will do anything they can to do the least amount of work and spend the minimum time waiting. I guess he forged a signature.

HandballJim 11-30-2009 10:25 PM

Contact Amazon the company you purchased the item from, they are resposible making sure you get the item you ordered. They use UPS, FedEx, and USPS to ship. Amazon needs to do the trace on the item, and if there is an issue contact the company they used to deliver it. If you get involved you just might complicate things.

I know that UPS usually makes 3 attempts to deliver a package, if they can't get a signature they will send it back as not deliverable. Amazon once sent a book to my PO Box...the people at the PO were not responsible enough to make sure they put the slip in my box. So we call amazon telling them we never received the book, so they send out another book the same day to my jobs address UPS. They did not charge us again...but we did end up with 2 books. :upsidedow

miss_jody 11-30-2009 10:43 PM

shipping company shouldn't have left it at the door

Deej 11-30-2009 11:01 PM

Yea, all of you saying they dont leave without a signature are just spouting shit off without knowing whats true...

As for UPS, they will leave any package unless addressed not to if the total declared worth is not over 1k.

if anything else it is left on porch.

Fed ex and UPS are very similar so i assume the value placement is similar.

I think thats what he meant by move out da hood. Or... if you truly dont live in da hood, move da hood out your living...

Fuck that tweaker up.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 11-30-2009 11:16 PM

Fedex are the ultimate in "We Don't Care." They once left an overnight envelope in a puddle of water by my door.

baddog 11-30-2009 11:25 PM

I find it interesting that most of the people complaining about FedEx or UPS don't live here.

Maybe service just sucks in other countries.

vending_machine 11-30-2009 11:30 PM

If you purchase from Amazon they will most likely ship you a new item free of charge.

lazycash 11-30-2009 11:30 PM

This is what happened to your package.

you sure it wasnt windy and collected into a puddle due to water resistance? I hate fedex, I just see that being a plausible action. I mean did you see that fed ex guy walk away and find it in a puddle? or did you find an envelope in the puddle hours or even a next day later?

Obviously I read it, I am saying WHY would he leave it out there for a day (if he were away in LA why get it delivered). In Canada you need to pre-authorize/sign the door hanger for them to leave anything, they can't just leave it there.

Package was ordered on Thursday, on the day we were leaving for LA from Sacramento. It was delivered on Saturday. There was no reason to expect it would be delivered on Saturday because we did not pay for Saturday delivery. Saturday delivery through FedEx costs extra.

Do you understand why there was a problem? We were arriving home on Sunday night.

Either way, it was our mistake because I found it hidden in front of my car this afternoon on the driveway.

Awesome! :thumbsup

V_RocKs 12-01-2009 03:46 AM

FedEx and UPS deliver on Saturdays...

Glad you found your package. Now you just have to deal with FedEx calling your local police about the false claim.

That should be fun!

Same in Denmark
Even if its an envelope the could go into the mail box they still require a signature.

czarina 12-01-2009 07:21 AM

fedex is at fault here

NBBCash Matze 12-01-2009 07:32 AM

what they leave packages at the porch ?? No neighbours in reach? Now the fed ex guy has a new BluRay player. :) Or you have the player + the money :winkwink:? Hope the insurance of Fedex pays for that mistake.
