New to Industry Checklist

Hi All,

I am new to the adult site world hwoever have experience with mainstream content. Mainly this post is about the top 5 things or even scams I should look out for. It seems everyone is very happy to help me with offering low amounts of money for sites that should earn $1k a week within no time. From what I've learned in mainstream is that, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

So I ask the question... for people to the list top 5 things to be vary of when entering this industry. Try to answer the question as serious as you can :p

Cheers vyp.

It sounds like you already have the number one thing - common sense - so you should do fine. :thumbsup

If you have been successful in mainstream content just apply the same rules to your adult business. Just because there is a pair of tits or a cock on show doesn't mean standard business practice goes out the window. After a while you get immune to the content anyway and just concentrate on making your business successful.

The best investment is time and not spending money on shit you don't really need.

Welcome to the party!

Common sense will help you along the way..:2 cents:

1. It takes money to make money.
2. Purchased traffic will not make sales. If it did it wouldn't be for sale.
3. Affiliate reps lie. Beware of anyone who calls you "bro."
4. Other webmasters are your competition. Don't believe all the "community" bullshit. We all want each other to fail. I want you to fail. Ask me a question and I will misdirect you. Ask more questions and I will confuse you even more.
5. Don't fuck with your surfers. Never forget that those perverted idiots pay your bills.

1.) Agreed!
2.) Agreed!
3.) Agreed!
4.) Agreed!
5.) Agreed! And this ought to be on page one of the webmaster hand book. If there ever is one.......

^^That is about the most honest, straight forward answer/advice I have seen since I got into this business.. Well put Babaganoosh..

Common sense Is the biggest thing in any business, If it looks like a turd it is a turd, if it smells like shit it is shit. If you don't watch where you step you can walk off with shit on your shoe. If you let someone into your wallet they will never get out. If I had a site that COULD make 1k a week I sure as hell wouldn't sell it. I would put it up and duplicate it 10 times and sit back on a beach sipping drinks with little umbrellas in them and a babe in my lap..

Welcome viper88. Watch out for people that say they want to buy something and then they take your money and run. After all, the internet is a faceless places where some crimes go unpunished.

I'm probably the only one on this forum who knows what your username means. haha!

So if we shouldn't purchase traffic...how do you go about getting traffic? Can we forget about rule #4 for now?

lol

Good! Most people think it's an idiotic misspelling of baba ganouj. I loved MXC and still have most episodes on DVD.

Build traffic using search engines, link exchanges, etc. Purchased traffic is fine to send to trades (tgp/mgp) but don't think you can buy traffic and send it straight to a landing page or a sponsor. It won't work.

That statement obviously doesn't apply to PPC advertising. I've had some very good luck with PPC campaigns over the years.

Don't worry about #4 unless you ask for specifics. That's when I start lying. :winkwink:

LOL I like the honesty of your potential dishonesty

Know the laws.... most people come to adult and forget there is a whole new set of laws to learn and deal with. Most newbies I have consulted had never heard of 18 USC 2257. Most think that its legal to shoot porn anywhere as well.

Good-luck...
