Does working from home make your more or less likely to get sick?

Those of you that work from home, do you find that you are more or less likely to get sick since starting to work from home?

I think that I miss most big waves of illness that a lot of other people get from just being out and about everyday. However, if I do catch wind of something it really takes root with more vengeance than it would have in the past.

Thankfully the kids bring home enough viruses to keep me sick at least a couple times a year. If not for that I'd have no reason to get away from this blasted tool. (my computer)

Altwebdesign 12-07-2009 07:05 AM

less likely.
Very rarely i have anything except for the common which lasts 1-2 days

The Duck 12-07-2009 07:11 AM

I don't get sick as often and when I do it's usually not as bad.

NetHorse 12-07-2009 07:13 AM

I don't get sick, I have a big dick.

sexyelisha 12-07-2009 11:19 AM

Less likely, but when i do get sick, it takes ages to get over it :( I have a cold at the moment and keep sneezing.

I second this, Kids are like illness magnets :2 cents:

Sarah_Jayne 12-07-2009 12:30 PM

Yeah, I am sure if I had kids I would be getting introduced to every germ around.

I think my immune system has probably weakened a little since the last time I worked in a corporate office (or any job interacting regularly with other people) was in 1996. When my daughter started going to childcare a few years ago I caught everything she did. It's annoying getting sick so much but it's essential for her immune system to develop, and in the long run it's probably good for mine too.

I live with two roomates, one of which works in a kitchen :P Plus, we live in a condo with 11 units so we're kinda...close to eachother. So I unfortunately am almost as exposed as someone who works outside of the home.

Ugh, school made me sick basically constantly :( Hence why my mother always referred to my classmates as "snot nosed children".

WankWorld 12-07-2009 09:25 PM

I find I don't get sick as often.

heymatty 12-07-2009 09:29 PM

Kids in daycare ftw.

Sarah_Jayne 12-08-2009 02:19 AM

On the good side, when I am sick I can still work from bed with the laptop :)

I never really took the time to think about my immune system weakening, maybe if i spent a day out i'd get every airbourne virus known to man

Max_PuZcash 12-08-2009 03:43 AM

I think working at home can cause laziness but not that you get sick more often...

Scott McD 12-08-2009 03:47 AM

It probably does mean you get sick less yes. Plus in the summer when i get killed with damn hayfever every year, at least i don't have to head outdoors, although i still get affected though...

Raf1 12-08-2009 03:53 AM

I think it doesn't make much of a difference. People usually still have go out shopping, the gym, meet friends etc.

After Shock Media 12-08-2009 08:09 PM

I find those that get the least amount of exposure to illnesses are the most likely to catch or have a hard to shaking even something that others could have shacked early on. I am a firm believer that the more dirt we are around, especially as kids the healthier on average th child will grow up to be.

american pervert 12-08-2009 08:27 PM

never get sick working at home... but i do get really fucking lazy and sit in my pj's all day

So you also do not go out much then either right?

PersianKitty 12-09-2009 12:27 AM

I get sick a lot less often than I did when I worked outside the home and also even less sick now that my kids are grown and not in school.

raven1083 12-09-2009 01:22 AM

a little bit board...

redwhiteandblue 12-09-2009 03:11 AM

Less likely to get sick, but more likely to become a sicko....

not if i don't have to, but if i do, i prefer it be after dark. too much traffic in the day time.

CaptainHowdy 12-09-2009 07:00 AM

Not sicker, I just get asked more vulgar questions...

candyflip 12-09-2009 08:44 AM

I work from home and am sick. Could be because my mom is here two days a week babysitting my nieces and kids. Sickness just gets passed from one kid to the next in one big never-ending cold.

Ginn 12-09-2009 10:03 AM

I am less thick, but more lazy at home:)

SomeCreep 12-09-2009 10:04 AM

I believe less likely.
