Nice.. AFF just terminated my account...
Can someone read this and make some fucking sense out of it?
http://graphics.pop6.com/images/ftc_...gned_Order.pdf Apparently we all have to comply with this shit and I haven't the slightest clue of what it is asking me to do. I am a little high right now... Anyone got Cliff's Notes on this? |

Id ask them for clarification tbh. Looks to me like someone is suing them cause they didn't like being seen on the site or something along those lines, and I'm guessing if they disabled your account you were promoting something involving that party and or their issue with AFF.
aff was ordered by the ftc not to advertise or promote aff by means of a banner/frame/popup that contains sexually explicit material, they were ordered to also inform affiliates of this ?

Basically bandits/PT Barnum's of the internet. :321GFY Their AFF business was a failure, losing big money at the end, so they climbed in bed and sold out to even shadier people than themselves (as hard as that is to imagine), out of utter selfishness/greed. It's been over a year since the new ownes announced that they would issue an IPO in order to pay off something like a half-billion in debt, yet to date, no IPO has been issued, and the company has sunk even deeper into debt (all the while, helping to finance people that are undermining many content producers in the business). I think something is up as the date is 2007 in the emails they sent many and the pdf as well is dated back then
Can you still login to your account, any messages there?

I will get you and Smokey that cash and everyone else who posts the 50th post numbered as 51, 101, 151 and so on. Just send me an email and I will epassporte that out to you when the economy improves... |
Hmm.... looking into this further... The message is sent to people and it doesn't have my ID with their company but it does show my name.
It has a link to login to some other domain... So if you get this message, it appears to be a phishing scam and I guess the person doing the phishing is going to change your payment details or something... The PDF is stamped with EFILE... Since when do court judgements get EFILED? |
I think this was my old ID I never got around to using and forgot the login to.
So it appears they got hacked and their DB is being used by someone trying to phish... |

Hmm... no... they seem to own the domain...

Hmm.. seems it could be real... But to do this without putting anything from a rep on GFY and other boards just seems stupid...

PDF CLIFF NOTES:
In a nutshell what I get from the PDF docs is that you can't serve a sexually explicit ad- be it a banner, pop under, etc- to a surfer unless the surfer is already on a sexually explicit site. Essentially it's forcing the company and it's affiliates to serve content that matches the site it's going on. So if you've got a PG-13 feeder site you need to be serving PG-13 ads (no insertion / hardcore), but if you're an adult site thats already displaying adult content you can run whatever you want. |
ive seen a few people on different boards have had the same email
I was tempted to reply that I had terminated them years ago.
aff leads dating way ahead
Ccan someone tell me what the fuck is going on here?!

Has Sagi or anyone from AFF commented yet?
Yeah, mine, too. They suck big fucking time! I've took them out long time ago and I've never had the "opportunity" to boot them out first, which is kinda' twisted... with the credit card companies, once you give up to their services, their "fame" suffer in front of the head-offices and not only but if they give up on you, your credit history goes down the drain. No wonder I cannot terminate my own account so they can eat shit on the long run... blow us AFF.
i got the same mail too.
No Mail here..account seems to be fine..I guess Elli or Sagi will respond when they see the thread.
How about the FTC filing suit against banks, other financial institutions, and the Federal Reserve for manipulative practices? When's that going to happen... oh never.
I got one to with my affiliate number in it.
Our records indicate that you have never agreed to the terms and conditions of any version of the Various' Affiliate Network Agreement that contains language pertaining to the Stipulated Final Order for Permanent Injunction as to Defendant Various, Inc. (the "FTC Order") filed on December 12, 2007. My account will be terminated Dec. 31 if I don't agree, but I could not find any place in the affiliate section to agree to anything. Tried contacting them but no answer yet. Sounds like a way to clean up on all those affiliate accounts that have minimum balances and traffic. More sponsor hi-jinks. |
I am surprised with so many threads on multiple boards there has been no AFF response.
I got 2 and they were for accounts I never used my account I use is fine
This is the agreement we had with the FTC 2 years ago. We cannot have promotions that are explicit and unsolicited. You can still promote us with explicit ads so long as it is NOT unsolicited. Unsolicited ads (such as an entry pop on your site) are also still okay so long as they are not explicit at the same time or came from the result of a click that was already in an explicit part of your site. This has always been our policy which is why we had no issues agreeing to this with the FTC. Part of the deal was to get all our affiliates to acknowledge the FTC agreement in our TOU. Affiliates who logged in within the past 2 years have probably already agreed. Most of these accounts have not been logged into in years or are second accounts that were forgotten about.
If you received the email reminder please be sure to login before the end of the year and review the TOU. You can contact me if you have trouble remembering your password. |
AFF is by far the worst dating sponsor i've dealt with in my life... /opinion
