I have that same system. :thumbsup In addition to distance and clarity, I like that you can check the answering machine from any handset.

Basically, any name brand 5.8 GHz or DECT 6.0 phone will do the job required by tammix.

concrete seems to effect it. if i have the base upstairs and am using the phone in the basement there is horrible static. if the base is in the basement as well, it works fine.

The concrete wall as well as other electronic devices can affect your signal.

Is your 5.8 GHz analog or digital? It sounds like you have an analog 5.8 GHz phone. Digital phones have an enhanced range over comparable analog models. If your 5.8 GHz phone is not digital and you're in the market for a new one then you should be looking at DECT 6.0.

I have a couple of those dect 6.0 phones i don't know if its just the ones i happen to buy but i notice they have a big habit of not working. ie, you always have to 'register' them to get them to work which is useless when someone calls and they don't ring because they yet again have to be 'registered'.

What brand do you have? I had a similar problem. I called tech support and they reconfigured the phone. Haven't had the problem since.

GE. I might see if i can get any help from support if that would fix the problem. Although one of the portables now doesn't ring anymore for some reason. the phone still works, just doesn't make any sound anymore.

the engineers that were working in the hospital told me they had repeaters built in the hospital so their walkie talkies worked, maybe you can get something for those concrete walls
