i bought an iMac in the summer - it's the most beautiful and expensive paperweight i've ever owned.

i put on a black turtleneck and little black square glasses when i use it.

The weird thing about a Mac is that it has a mouse with only one button on it. What the fuck is that?

This mouse is a fucking retard:

Linguist 01-06-2010 09:44 PM

I love my mac. i do all my day-to-day tasks on it and just use the window box to test sites on IE and as a jukebox (I refuse to use Itunes. Winamp all the way)

though admittedly i've been mistaken for a homo more than once

goldfish 01-06-2010 09:48 PM

Give it a month, you'll never go back to a pc. I GAVE AWAY my 2 yr old laptop last night because I dislike Windows so much, I am buying a Macbook Pro this week.

My first 12 years on a computer were spent on a Macintosh. I already did my time.

Wow, how old are you? It took me all of 10 minutes to figure things out coming from using a PC all my life. Not too good with computers apparently. This might help

Wanna speed up your mac love?

In preferences, remap your keyboard so the Cmd key is where your old control button would be, and then you're blazin'

I woulda thrown my mac out the window within a day if I actually tried to retrain myself to use the command button

I've done this for 3 years now and have yet to run into a problem with any software.

DWB 01-07-2010 01:43 AM

I just got my MacBook Pro about a month ago. It took a little adjusting to, but it's fucking powerful. Now I can edit and render HD files on my laptop QUICKLY, where before I was tied to a PC desktop that took hours and hours (if not a day) to do the same task.

Also, run Windows on Bootcamp. You'll find that your mac will run Windows better than a PC.

There are a few things I don't like. 1) I prefer the FTP software on a PC, as well as Email and chat clients. Other than that, Mac is superior.

BTW... I actually caught myself a week ago. Our power was out so I went to Starbucks to get wi-fi. There I was, drinking Starbucks, with a Mac, black chunky glasses... for a moment, I WAS THAT DUDE!!!! I almost fainted. Gathered myself and left. Close call. After that, the only place you can go is the glory hole.

kmanrox 01-07-2010 01:48 AM

i got my first mac (imac) a few months back and while there was a couple day learning curve i've actually been won over to OSX and its hardware.. it just makes a lot more sense. since then i've gotten 4 more mac products (air,iphone3g+3gS,nano) and they all just fit into place pretty effortlessly.

got mobileMe working the other week (xmas present from Moses @ RehabDollars) and it tied everything together to the second degree...

Last year my main laptop started breaking down so I replaced it with a macbook pro and shelved it.

I was totally blown away by all the eye candy and how much fun it was to do everything.

Unfortunately my workflow is fairly chaotic and I generally have about 2 dozen irons in the fire at a time.

I could never get my head around quickly navigating the file heirarchy in mac's "finder" and so generally by the time I found the file I wanted I forgot why, or found another one that I needed to work on first and neglected the other.

Immediately I started losing money. I continued losing money and eventually lost my business.

Yesterday I installed windows 7 with bootcamp on my macbook pro and instantly I feel about 200% more productive. Let's see how this year goes.

You are, in all seriousness, blaming the Mac on the loss of your business? Nigga please.

tranza 01-07-2010 09:04 AM

Don't worry...you'll get used to it soon..

No I am blaming a combination of the economy, some scammy deadbeat non-paying clients, and my own adult Attention Deficit Disorder.

Since I've survived all three up till now I would have to say that the mac, being the only new part of the equation certainly didn't help.

DamianJ 01-07-2010 09:11 AM

Launchbar. Get it.

First thing I install on new Mac. It is a launcher. Rather than go to Finder, go to apps and clicking on safari, you simply type SAF and it opens. If you want to write a new email to a certain person, you type first few letters of their name and boom. A song? A document? A bookmark? All the same.

It will change your life. :)

Spotlight already does this. cmd+space, 'saf', return. Voila.

Having said that, I am installing Launchbar. Heh.

I use FF for Mac and the PC... and I don't see any difference between the two.

Care to enlighten me?

I can't enlighten you but +1 for it running better on a mac.

FF runs WAY smoother and faster on my macs than it does on my windows box. :2 cents:

Me like compooter. Me buy Mac. It look good with my decor and don't throw off Feng Shui.

X37375787 01-07-2010 05:32 PM

Personally, I had been switching between my 08 Mac Pro and my custom PC (i7 975) for the past few months now, and I can not help but go back to the Mac after a few weeks of PC work.

To me, it's a more efficient machine. A. It's quieter. B. It is powerful, a multi-tasking beat C. It integrates very well with the rest of my hardware (30 cinema screen, MBPs, iPhone, etc.) and D. it's just so fucking pretty.

It is clear that I can do the same work on the PC as I can on the Mac. The tools are available for either platform. I simply prefer the overall feel of the OS and the hardware. I am not a fanboi, I don't give a fuck about the hype, I have work to get done and pick the tool that aids me in doing it the most efficient way.
