What is Paypal's current policy regarding adult?

I know they used to be very much against adult ...even had an account frozen because of it... But was curious if they changed their policy. The only mention of "adult" on their user agreement page was this:

"4.8 Receiving Payments from Student Accounts. PayPal may block your ability to receive payments from Student Accounts if you sell goods or services that may be illegal for minors to purchase under any applicable laws or regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, alcohol, tobacco or adult oriented materials."

This implies they accept adult, just not for processing with student accounts.

Can anyone elaborate? Anyone use Paypal for adult?

Thanks!

I'd like to know as well. Some adult torrent or tube sites accept paypal donations, is this allowed?

They will accept adult "tangible" items, like dvds, that are shipped.
No digital goods.

Thanks, BV. What about non-adult intangible items sold off an adult oriented website? For instance, if I sold a generic website template or ebook, neither containing any adult pics, but it was from a primarily adult site?

Just dont do it, they will eventually fuck you.

Just checking. When they froze my account before, it wasn't because I was selling adult oriented material. It was because an adult webmaster sent me money for a non-adult purchase with no connection to an adult website (strictly via email). The brilliant minds at Paypal evidently assumed if someone associated with adult websites sent money to someone, then naturally that someone is also associated with adult websites and the computer monitor he sold was obviously adult oriented. Before risking my Paypal account, I wanted to know if they're still using 5th grade logic.

then you might want to contact them and get prior approval to be safe

but see.. i think they do accept some type of adult processing becaues there is a site that is adult fine-art style ( nude) and they use paypal.. and have been for a long time.. I just don't think they want hardcore adult on paypal..

They only allow money from drugs and weapons, not sex, as we know sex is evil.

Oh I agree, except the "old" Paypal would flag your account for closer monitoring if you even asked such a question. I don't know how they are now, but Paypal was brutally prejudice against adult in the past...

Storm_Tracker 01-08-2010 01:37 PM

Paypal is complete garbage :321GFY

I sell DVDs w paypal it's cool. Have them buy it off a static page instead of them sending u mystery payments

czarina 01-08-2010 03:17 PM

they'll can your account and freeze your money if they find out you're selling adult stuff. I'd stay away from them

neonlights 01-08-2010 03:21 PM

you can sell sex toys, dvd's but you can't sell porno content online. period.

i've seen lot of fetish sites remodelled as "art" and they accept paypal.

also remember to always withdraw money regularly! never leave large amount of money in there.
