Will sex robots obsolete partners?
 

I don't think so... Maybe if you are a tool/nerd or socially inept however this article is good reading and sounds like some of our friends are forward thinking in a way that might reform what we all do in this industry. I applaud the ideas as a stepping stone to keeping up with the times.

I though I was going to read about something new in Japan, they got all kind of robots...including dogs and cats.

Not too soon...but one day, when the robot looks exactly like a woman...who knows.

i would say when we are all senior citizens, in the next 40 years, that technology will have come so far as to you won't be able to tell the real thing from a robot.
...but in most of our lifetimes, yes.

I also think that Quantum Computing will play a MAJOR role in these advances

I see it more likely a case of when the computer interfaces directly into your brain, so your reality becomes what is in the computer, you won't need the difficult task of trying to create a mechanically perfect robot, but rather the reality will be in your brain so you would not be able to tell the difference between looking at a real person or the virtual reality that is "projected" directly into your mind :2 cents:

It will no doubt be a reality, but this is 200+ years into the future.

Thousands of years from now, we will be able to buy realistic android humans and make them do all of our chores and perform sexual acts. That's where technology is going.

Thousands of years in the future the robots have decided they don't need us.

That would require some level of consciousness beyond their programming. But the specifics of how this could play out are not even conceivable with what we know here in 2010.

Sounds like yet another movie i've seen before...
