recommendations for customized desktops with Windows Pro XP 64bit downgrade option?
I've used Dell in the past and have been happy. However they seem a little steep on prices at the moment, and shipping takes too long for some customizations.
Any other suggestions? (I don't want to build it myself) Best Buy has everything loaded with Windows 7. Any national chain stores offer XP Professional 64-bit on their machines? |
you will not find xp64 in any national chain.
xp64 has major driver issues half the hardware out there has no working xp64 drivers i tried xp64 a few years back. |
Well, shit. I wasn't aware of those issues. I was just reading about how some installers and programs won't work with 64 bit either.
What about just plain old Windows XP Professional then? (32 bit) Any chain still have them? |
you will not find xp in any major chain.
unless your buying low end hardware windows 7 works fine. |
Well... thanks for the info. Looks like I may make the transition to a new operating system then. I just hate switching from something that works... but at the same time I want more ram, faster processor, etc.

You might still find XP in some netbooks but thats probably about it
