I miss this band .... Guns N' Roses

http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/...uns460x276.jpg

Axl and Slash were unbeatable back in the day. Along with Duff and Izzy and Stevie. I loved the Illusions tour lineup too after Izzy left with Matt Sorum on drums and Gilby Clarke on guitars. And I actually love Chinese Democracy and listen to it a lot and saw them rocking in 2006, twice. They're talented and it's great seeing Axl rock it again ... and he did rock it hard on stage. Fucking incredible. I've also seen Velvet Revolver twice too and they blew me away too. Slash is my freakin' hero! lol

But ... this was the heyday of G N' R (late 80's and early 90's) and they were the biggest and best band in the world. I listen to Guns N' Roses every single day. EVERY single day.

To remind yourselves of how good they were ... listen to Appetite for Destruction, GnR Lies (Or if you're luck enough to own it, Live Like a Suicide too), Use Your Illusion I and II, The Spaghetti Incident. ALL awesome AWESOME albums!

tabasco 01-25-2010 10:25 PM

Agree... I miss hard rock and grunge in general.

Vendzilla 01-25-2010 10:26 PM

I met Axle and Slash
Axle was a drucken asshole and Slash was laid back and cool, I remember him promoting Black Death Vodka

NaughtyRob 01-25-2010 10:28 PM

Yeah, they were awesome. :-)

Back when I was a kid I thought those traits on Axl rocked. LOL! Badass rock shizzle yannow? :) I am sad it all ended the way it did between the old guys.

I saw the at Madison Square Garden during their "Use Your Illusion" tour, and Soundgarden opened for them. They were great live. :thumbsup

NETbilling 01-25-2010 10:41 PM

Loved their first couple of albums. Could not stand Axl's voice live though.

I did however get to hang and party with him in his apt above Sunset one night almost all night long. It was great talking shop with him and drinking Dom and beer. He was not high and really fucking cool. It is one of my great Hollywood memories from my Strip days.

the club I worked at was always getting rockers in there, Nikki Six, Tommy Lee, they were my favorite guys, always acted cool and NIkki always had some hot chicks with him

Twisted Dave 01-25-2010 10:59 PM

I have read Nikki Sixx's book and have the sountrack too and I gotta say. Awesome!

Slash's book is awesome too. I love the debauched shit you read. Sure they fucked their lives up, but they lived through the shit and had a great time and still do. They're inspiring :P LOL!

My xgirlfriend and roommate was good friends with his girlfriend at the time (can't remember her name). We were hanging at a bar one night and he came down to meet her and we had some drinks and then he invited us all back to his place. It was a great time.

blonda80 01-26-2010 12:15 AM

After years of tour speculation and the long-awaited release of "Chinese Democracy," an album 10 years in the making, Guns N' Roses has outlined plans for a North American tour.

For now, the routing will just take Axl Rose and his compatriots across the Canadian provinces. Thirteen dates are on the books from a January 13 opening show at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, MB, through a final February 4 gig at Metro Centre in Halifax, NS.

Among the other stops scheduled on the three-week trek are gigs on January 17 at Rexall Place in Edmonton, AB; January 24 at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, ON; and February 1 at Colisee Pepsi in Quebec.

Voodoo 01-26-2010 02:13 AM

CaptainHowdy 01-26-2010 06:09 AM

I try not to miss any rock band...

BlackCrayon 01-26-2010 06:09 AM

Appetite came out when i was in grade 6. I loved the band. My friends and I drew hundreds of logos/t shirt designs we somehow thought we might be able to sell to them, lol. I still think they're great and am seeing them this saturday. I only wish at least slash was still there if not the whole line up.

SomeCreep 01-26-2010 07:23 AM

I've seen GNR live. Axl is a dick.

HammerALL 01-26-2010 07:49 AM

Kenny B! 01-26-2010 08:51 AM

I have tickets to the show tomorrow night in Montreal, should be somewhat nostalgic even though Axl looks like an overweight hillbilly and heès the only original band member left!

Pics Traffic 01-26-2010 08:57 AM

How is it GnR? Its just Axel Rose right?

bufferover 01-26-2010 08:58 AM

Really good band indeed

GT-Omar 01-26-2010 08:59 AM

Welcome to the Jungle is still one of my favorites

WebairGerard 01-26-2010 09:03 AM

They will probably do a reunion tour like all bands one day. hopefully sooner than later.

intellichat 01-26-2010 09:09 AM

I've got a friend who still had one bottle left. We drank it half a year ago... that shit tasted sooooo bad :helpme

Supz 01-26-2010 03:55 PM

I listen to them just about everyday myself. I love them. Axl made the group. I know Slash is a great guitarist and everything. But nothing beats Axl's voice. I saw him preform not sure if it was 06 or 07 but he was amazing.

zurc-net 01-26-2010 03:57 PM

Axle Rose is a douche bag

Buckethead (a phenomenal player ... and not just a shredder ... check out his album, Colma) left Guns N' Roses in the early 2000's :) Axl didn't fire him.

He also performed on the released version of the Chinese Democracy album. Axl didn't replace all his parts.

How do you listen to all of those at the same time?

Try some:

Nofx
Anti-Flag
Journey
Rolling Stones
Bruce Springsteen
Simon & Garfunkel
U2
Billy Joel
Bob Marley
Eminem

That is what my ipod is filled with ;)

Axls great sure. But he did not make the band :P

That's a naive view. Chinese Democracy, as cool and awesome as it is, is proof that Axl DID need the old band to have that feel.

Velvet Revolver proves that Slash etc needed Axl too.

The fact is ... Guns made awesome music because they were a great band who worked well together. It was not one man.

barelist 01-26-2010 04:43 PM

Not a huge fan of the new album... waited for it for years and years and years... I guess after that build up it was a bit of a let down.

I have to say that NIN has stayed very strong over the years... Trent hasn't lost one step.

I guess losing a bunch of his money and being forced to tour and make new albums didn't hurt. Saw him/them 4 times in 2 years... pretty cool. Even more so seeing them at a tiny BBQ place here in Austin... amazing show!

Klen 01-26-2010 04:59 PM

I readed in newspapers how they didn't allowed fans who had slash hat to enter concert.

I used to work for Slash and once made a kid in Texas take off a Chinese Democracy shirt before a meet and greet. This was back in 2001 so you could say we started it.

LeCoq 01-26-2010 06:23 PM

Chinese Democraty has some very good songs mixed with more average songs but the sound sucks. It wayyyyyyyyy over produced.

appetite was way more energetic because it was raw and nasty. That made it sound sooo damn good, even by today's standart.
