You dont get many kind and trustworthy people like this any more
I helped a friend of mine with some deliveries today because he was short of van drivers. He phones me up at 9:30 am and asks if I could help him out as he was stuck. I said yes because he said they were small and quick
So I have a quick shower ect get up to his office he gives me an envolope and a case to take to two seperate addresses I hop in one of his vans and off I go I had no money with me and no credit card thinking I would be back in a couple of hours I do the first delivery no problem then head of to the second one but what I dont realise is I have to cross a toll bridge to get there and I have no cash or credit card on me. I go to the security office and ask if they could ring up my misses or my friend to pay the charge over the phone, they say no ! Next to me is a lorry driver who I have never meet or seen in my life and he turns around and offers me the cash to get accross the bridge... I couldent belive it . I got his name and address and will be sending his money back with a little extra as a way of saying thankyou You dont very often find people like this around and this has restored my faith in humans again One thing he did say to me was If somebody else is in a similar situation he would hope that I would do the same Long story.. I know but what a nice guy huh :thumbsup |
good to hear and yes those things do restore the faith in the human race for me as well.

I pay people's toll and people do the same for me... typically it's when I open up a space for them during rush hour traffic crossing the Bay Bridge.
Nice gesture. |
It really depends where you are. If you don't believe this, you probably just live in a shithole. There are still places in this world, even the western world, where true communities exist and people are actually good to eachother...

It was a very kind thing of him to do.
I don't know if it makes him trustworthy though. |

I'd like to give some input on this subject.
I was at a gas station up in Brunswick, where they wanted 75 cents to turn on the air pump so I could put air in my tires. I told them that the first station that I went to, their pump was not working and it almost emptied my brand new tire. I asked them if they could turn it on as a courtesy thing, because Speedway does that, but this gas station wouldn't do it. So I was turning to leave and a black lady said hey, here, and gave me a dollar. She said, do it for someone else when they need it. That's the kind of thing I wish happened more in this world. I feel bad that it's a fight or die type world, but that's what America has turned it into. My input on the toll fee someone paid is this: doing a good deed does not make anyone trustworthy. He didn't expect the money back. What he did was a good deed, because a lot of us believe that what comes around, goes around, and others believe in karma, and others believe that that's our purpose, is to help each other out. He paid for your toll because you forgot your wallet. The lady paid for my air (yes, paid for AIR) because I didn't have the dollar. We've got to pass it on to someone else, when they need it. That's what the people who helped us out, wanted. It's all about helping out people in need. I wouldn't mail the money back to him. I would give it to the next person you see that needs help. If they're a couple bucks short for their purchase, give it to them. If you see 4 people needing a dollar each, for air, give it to them. The whole reason he gave you the money is so you can pass it on when you see someone in need. Keep the chain going! |
Nice to hear things like this.

obviously your not from the USA, no one is that nice here :1orglaugh
true story: on christmas eve back in 1999 I was coming home from a GF's house to my parents. It was about 11pm and I was on the turkpike (toll road in PA) and I get to the exit and realize I left my wallet at her place. the toll was no more than $3 but all I had on me was change. I scraped together all but 20 cents of the toll and the fat asshole bitch at the toll booth wouldnt let me through. I had to pull over and dig through my car, even tho i said I would bring her back $5 tomorrow if she would let me in. I remember her saying about how she has to work on xmas eve and i shouldnt be so stupid. So she calls the highway police (thats what they do when you dont have the money, they write you a ticket). While im waiting for this douche bag cop to show up, i find over $.20 in pennies. Im thrilled that I had change. I go to the toll booth and the woman says I can not pay in pennies... WTF?? I called the local police and they said there is nothing they can do. When the dickbag cop shows up over an hour later, I tell him I have the money, but he claims its to late and he has to write a ticket. I get a $35 fine from the state, $5 from the turnkpike plus the $3 toll I have to pay... all on fucking christmas. I wrote to the turn pike and explained what happened and they sent me a letter apologizing, a check for my toll and said they contacted the highway patrol to remove the fine... yet, still had to pay the toll booth fine. So... consider yourself lucky man, people around here are dicks! |
I dropped my cell phone in a store the other day while trying out mattresses. Before I can even get back he called my girlfriends phone who was with me and said he had it. (She was the last person called)

I've always tried to be that kind of person. To help someone in need if I can.
However, these days so many people are not trustworthy it's hardly safe anymore to lend a helping hand. See someone broke down on the side of the road and pull over to help. Forget it. Now people actually FAKE being broke down and rob the good Samaritans. Someone's walking with a gas can and asks for a few dollars to get gas for their car. Forget it. Their car is fine. It's just a scam to get beer or drug money. Someone knocks on your door saying they have been in a car wreck and need help or to use the phone. Forget it. It's just their plan for a home invasion robbery. There was a time when you could safely do all those but not today. You really need to size up and access the situation before making your next move. Who does it hurt the most. The people who really needed the help. |
Sounds like a real neat fellow. Take him out for a bear if you ever see him again.
|
So where did you get the money to pay the toll back? :1orglaugh
But that's one heck of a guy tho haha. thumbs up whoever he is :thumbsup |

I leave all the pennies and nickels at the store in those little spare change things when I buy smokes and stuff.
Does that count? |
There are still some really decent people in the world!
