It's Official Cameron's Avatar is #1 All-time Worldwide @ $1,858,562,198
Numbers came out yesterday didn't see any threads about it...
ALL TIME WORLDWIDE 1. Avatar $1,858,562,198 2. Titanic $1,843,201,268 3. Return of the King $1,119,110,941 http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/ |
Not bad. I have yet to see the movie.

Repsect, nothing more to add ;)
|
And domestic, 6th weekend it only made nearly $35 mil. That's all. Which was by the way more than Titanic's opening weekend by over $6 million. In fact if it continues dropping off at the pace it is, its 7th weekend will be over Titanic's opening weekend too and in less than 2 weeks it'd be passing Titanic's domestic gross, albeit largely due to 3D tickets which can be more expensive. So it'll probably pass Titanic's domestic gross by the time it has a weekend under Titanic's opening weekend - pretty sick.

Note that the second movie on the list was also made by Cameron. One talented guy!

It's actually 26th best selling movie of all time. Still a long way to go before they can celebrate.

Indeed :)

It would be interesting to watch the numbers from the future avatar movies if Cameron keeps his word and continues the saga.

"Tickets Sold" is a better way of judging http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime...st_yr=1&p=.htm. Looks like it might get stuck at #20 despite having many more people in the world that can afford to go to the movies than the old films above it did.

If you take inflation into account, they say Gone With The Wind is still number 1 in terms of earnings.
|
Damn, that's amazing. The U.S. government should nationalize James Cameron and have him cranking out movies. Our debt will be paid off in no time.
