...and always just shortly after warranty is up. This is getting to be a huge pain in the fucking ass. Pretty sure something is broken in the disk drive this time. I should be able to fix it being as it's just the drive and not a full on red ringer, but this is the third one I've had crash and burn on me. Shit's getting real fucking old. I mean wtf? I got a Nintendo upstairs that's been working over 20 years, these cocksuckers can't keep a machien together for longer than 2?

No kidding. I've had the Red Ring of Death once (two months after the warranty expired), hopefully this Xbox will last a little longer.

In related news: The PS3 stops reading disks, first blu-ray then anything. Basically, the deal is that these electronic devices are meant to be disposable. With a bunch of games etc, what will most average consumers end up doing?

Ya, I heard the warranty has been extended too. First xbox I had was before they extended the warranty, when they finally accepted that their initial releases were total pieces of shit. I replaced that with a second hand model which was beyond warranty that died shortly thereafter. That was forever ago now.

I'll have to look into it, but I'm pretty positive this one is over the hill now too.

How did they handle it for you, did you need a receipt, or can they check the age of the machine by serial number or something?

I'll tell you what they'll end up doing. Pirating the fucking things and playing them on their computer. Which is about what I feel like doing these days.

when they banned me I got a ps3 and told them to go fuck themselves.
ps3 is better, the controller is 10x better imho too.

I did like the PS controllers when I was on PS2, but the Xbox 360 controllers are sickeningly good. I love them. Generally all around I prefer the xbox, but fuck they just fall apart...

it was an ok controller if it didnt have that huge battery brick in the back it really hurts my fingers.

the analogs are more accurate on the ps3 too.

Just move to ps3, you will no regret it. not to mention the better exclusives you'll not see.
The only thing I like on the 360 is the latest GTA and it will be out in a month for the ps3....not even mentioning them motion controller, once it will be out this year it will own everything.

Name one. Really, I've only been disappointed twice about exclusive titles ont he PS3. That was for Resistance 2 and Killzone (which sound slike is gonna wind up on xbox next release anyways). Whereas I've had several of my favorite game, that are nowhere to be seen on PS3. i think 360 has a better overall library, which is why I'm on 360 in the first place, and havve stuck with it over the years.

Much of the reason I bailed for Sony is that they have a lot of the same problems. Sony is notorious for having worthless first runs with their machines. First gen PSX was a fucking nightmare, same with the first run of PS2's that came out, then the PSP's first releases with the shit awful dead pixels.

They're all terrible really. Shitty built-to-break machines. As much as Wii is kind of lame, I'd still bet you anything the average Wii goes with a way longer shelflife then either Sony or Microsoft's offerings.

Registering everything now, and hopeully they'll still warranty it.

i think they lose money / machine sold so its probably not in their best interest for people to have lots of machines where they can just play a central group of shared games

i think in the gamers qwest for small quiet boxes, heating becomes an issue which wrecks havoc on cpu, ram, and drives..

i think they have got a handle on this until the next gen boxes comes out.. :2 cents:

Indeed this seems to be a major problem. Especially with the 360s.

I got a couple old rrod 360s kicking around i been thinking of opening one up and cleaning up the heatsinks, readhering them to the chips and going the penny trick a go on. Seems to work for some people alright, and others not so alright. Don't really got anything to lose there trying.

That being said, with the advances in file storage and flash cards and whatnot, I would LOVE to see cartridges come back...

i have had my 360 elite since Oct of 2008. Knock on wood, nothing has went wrong.

My son has bought some sore of rrod kits to fix them for about $20 and gotten 4 back working. Even got a DVD drive somewhere for one that wasn't reading the games anymore.

first of all ps3 breaks 10x less then 360....second killzone is a fucking awesome game, third... UNCHARTED 2 is the best game of the year, even beaten MW2

i dont even need to mention upcoming battelfield, gt5, heavy rain, mag and shitload of other exclusive that will be out this year and you 360 fanboys will never be able to play em :)

I haven't play my 360 in about 6 months now. My PS3 gets all the love these days.

sure the ps3 was ahead of its time 2 years ago, and the 360 was in it's prime, now the 360 days are numbered, the natal project will fail i believe...too much hype

My NES needs a new pin reader... I keep forgetting to pick up a new one on ebay, but it did last a good 25 years before it began to fail reading cartridges.

I have had this happen to me twice. Each time they just sent me a new one. If you get an Xbox the extended warranty is a must have.

Same here. I hate those fuckity fucked up fuckers. Original 360 got red rings after a year. They fixed for free but was without for 3 weeks. We bought a second one for the upstairs and it red-ringed before year was up. Again, fixed for free and was without that one for two weeks. Upgraded to 360 Elite downstairs and it, after a year, produced some E### error (I remember it was the letter E and some numbers). They fixed for free and sent back in about 3 weeks. Because I'm a complete dumbass, I still continued with them and upgraded the upstairs to the Elite and I'll be a fucking goddamned if it didn't just crap out on me. I think it's the graphic card...no red rings, no error number...just produces jittery screen with fucked up colors. MS said they won't fix it for free since it was one year and one month later.

My ps3 [first gen] can only play warhawk or other downloaded games, pretty weak.
