Christmas meal ideas: HELP!

My girlfriend will come tomorrow, and I have promised to supply her with the best food possible for three entire days. So far, I got jack shit. (actually, I have a few pounds of roast beef, italian salad, mini-pizza-like thingies and a nice traditional breakfast, but it's not enough)

Please help out and give your recipes!

Sounds like you need to hit the supermarket and get some stuff.

I suggest something italian for tomorrow - Lasagne, or a nice special pasta (no Prego)

Then either roast chicken, turkey, or honey glazed ham for Christmas day lunch with veggies and pie - with cheese and crackers and cookies for later when you get the munchies

Finally, something light for day after Christmas since you'll have loads of leftovers - maybe chicken caesar salad or something

Get some citrus fruits in too and maybe some mixed nuts - even cereal makes nice brekkie if you've got fruit to go in/on it.

She'll prolly be happy just to be with you and all the food will be icing on the cake but as you asked for ideas...:)

This looks like a lot of work..try this, when she comes round tell her cooking is womens work and give her that list and tell her thats what you want for the next 3 days then go put your feet up in front of the tv.

There is a slight chance you may spend xmas alnoe though doing it my way.

I actually love cooking, and am pretty good at it. If I would let her do it, however, I would either spend Christmas alone, or have extremely crappy food to eat.

Ok, an idea for the second dinner:

- french bread with garlic butter
- tomato soup
- steak with mushrooms, olives and red wine
- salad
- homemade pudding

I have reservations toward this, though.

White Castle is open 365 days a year. Problem solved, unless of course you live in some hellhole town that doesn't have a White Castle.

pizza on christmas eve?

LadyMischief 12-23-2002 09:43 AM

Well I know that I'm making a nice coca cola glazed smoked ham, some roasted garlic mashed potatoes, some good down home sweetpotatoes and a few other goodies...you can't go wrong with something like that and it's so simple. For New Years I'm doing a nice subtle saffron rice Pilaf, some lemon-garlic shrimp, and some creamed scallops with white wine that you can actually cook in the microwave! Email me for recipes. :)

Hmm, I've got a recipe for that somewhere but everytime I mention trying it to my husband he looks at me like I have two heads. How does it come out?

Libertine 12-23-2002 10:02 AM

Its not punk to celebrate christmas.

A punk christmas. Do a bunch of smack and give each other tattoos.

heres a dinner Idea,

grilled chicken topped with pesto and parmesan and swiss cheese, pine nuts , and then roasted ,
lemon glazed baby carrots,
and roasted rosemary parisian potatoes...

looks impressive , tastes great but its easy as pie to cook .

I like the menu so far,
looks impressive . except the tomato soup maybe .. seems abit outta the can .

:1orglaugh

Sounds very good, except for the chicken, which my girlfriend does not eat :(
The tomato soup, by the way, will be tomato/basil-soup, with fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, a small bit of mozzarella and a bit of oregano. Not quite out of the can :)

Punkworld ~ that's some pretty heavy stuff you put together there (cheese, red meat, starch, cream). Does your girl have a really fast metabolism?

She is taking a 3-day pause from her diet for this occasion :)

Cheshire 12-23-2002 12:28 PM

Then in that case don't forget pudding, lots and lots of pudding.

:thumbsup
