I think what that movies does best is show that having health insurance is no guarantee you will get the help you need. They can decline you anytime they want for whatever reason they want and it is up to you to fight them and force them to pay.

The main reason that healthcare is so expensive in the USA, compared with other medically advanced countries like Canada and Thailand, is that we have the insurance company middlemen artificially inflating costs. In Canada, the government negotiates what is reasonable and rational. In Thailand, the market determines what people are willing to pay. The two are diametrically opposed, yet both have more affordable and -- even more importantly -- more available healthcare than we do.

In a way we already have that. If you don't have insurance many doctors require you to put down a cash deposit before they will see you. You can still go to urgent care or the ER and not have to pay up front and some doctors will bill you, but many have been burned so they just force you to pay in advance and refund you the difference.

doctors charge out the ass for shit and not so they can get rich, its because scum bag shitheads that live in this country think its ok to sue anyone and anyone so their lazy ass can sit at home instead of working and doctors have to pay through the ass for medical malpractice insurance.

If you are self employed you can setup a high deductible plan with a health savings account and get some extra tax deductions that way. Not to mention it is a good way to go if you don't go to the hospital often. See my sig, I wrote about this some.
