I think what that movies does best is show that having health insurance is no guarantee you will get the help you need. They can decline you anytime they want for whatever reason they want and it is up to you to fight them and force them to pay.
|
yup... now tell that to the rest of the tards in the US who keep siding against their own interests and don't even realize it, simply because some well-done ad on TV told them to.

Got to love an opinion based on someone else's ideas. Make a judgment based on the bias of Michael Moore. Smart.

What you are going to see is Pay per Visit. yeah you will actually have to pay the doctor.
Most will end up lowering the numerbs on the vist so low that anyone can afford it. See the patient for 25$ and charge them for the shots etc at a reasonable amount and they will make 10 times more. |

Western medicine treats symptoms, not patients. Removing the mind from the mind-body combination not only leaves a patient at a disadvantage, but also the physician. Add to that the fact that our food is devoid of real nutrients and you have a health crisis. People at the mercy of corrupt politicians, conglomerated food companies and insurance controlled health care and you have what we have. |
It annoys me that the nonsense about the current political ruckus fakes being about "healthcare" when it is really about bailing out the insurance companies and sending the bill to individuals and small businesses. Insurance is a scam.
The main reason that healthcare is so expensive in the USA, compared with other medically advanced countries like Canada and Thailand, is that we have the insurance company middlemen artificially inflating costs. In Canada, the government negotiates what is reasonable and rational. In Thailand, the market determines what people are willing to pay. The two are diametrically opposed, yet both have more affordable and -- even more importantly -- more available healthcare than we do. |

health care is a business and they will do what it takes to make as much as they can. there is no way to fight with them and nothing you can do unless you switch companies... then your just getting raped by the same guy with a different name tag on :1orglaugh doctors charge out the ass for shit and not so they can get rich, its because scum bag shitheads that live in this country think its ok to sue anyone and anyone so their lazy ass can sit at home instead of working and doctors have to pay through the ass for medical malpractice insurance. |

It is expensive to run for office in America, so I'd say the bias towards insurance company subsidies is bipartisan. For example, if a small business buys health insurance, that is tax-deductible, but, if a small business pays for actual medical expenses (doctor visits, prescriptions, surgeries), then that is only partially deductible. |
Using Michael Moore movies to back up your arguments for healthcare is about as effective as letting Bill Maher decide your religious beliefs...
...or george lucas to decide the answer to the wookie question. |

and yes, someone mentioned "co-pays" of the patients ... but hey, thats a mere $15 for THREE months ... shots and all the shit is free (at least in germany; some medication excluded tho; then ya pay about $6 per description) but overall i see most here understand the US medi care simply sucks ... haha, michael moore ... is it all lies in that movie? is it? :error just because he shows whats going wrong in the US? and how much better other countries deal with it? hmm? ya better rethink ... i just dont get how one can defend a corrupt sys and call all others dummies ... or is it jealousy about the europeans being better in so many ways? (NOT the ppl, but the systems) :disgust |
Americans spend a lot of money on a lot of stuff not just health care, but also defense, higher education, justice...etc.
http://static.globalissues.org/i/mil...ution-2008.png World military expenditure in 2008 is estimated to have reached $1.464 trillion in current dollars. The USA with its massive spending budget, is the principal determinant of the current world trend, and its military expenditure now accounts for just under half of the world total, at 41.5% of the world total. http://www.forbes.com/2007/01/19/mos...19college.html According to data from The Chronicle of Higher Education, which tracks college costs, the 10 most expensive schools in the country, led by George Washington University in Washington, D.C., averaged a tuition rise of 52% from 1999 to 2006--nearly triple the 21% rise in the U.S. cost of living during the same period. George Washington's $37,820 tuition is 82% of the entire median annual family income of $46,326. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2009/54/...mail_H8XP.html The Forbes 400 Richest Americans 2009 Name: Joseph Jamail Net Worth: $1,500 million Source: Lawsuits |

while the system could definitely use an overhaul, putting it all into the hands of the government is not the answer. also, you got one man's biased side of the story. while most of what he is saying might be true, i would educate myself more instead of taking michael moore's word for it. |
