Yes, i am using the script. Indeed, it does not currently check for nofollow and noindex, but i've been talking to Rofl (the programmer) and it should be updated to check for nofollow and noindex later on today. I've also sent him this thread to answer any other questions.

Nice.

When the programmer gets here, can he answer if the script has a nice import feature where we can feed it a list from a text file, rather than enter hundreds of trades 1 by 1?

Rofl 03-10-2010 09:32 AM

Hi there, thanks to GSX-R for pointing me in this direction.

I heard from roly this morning and have implemented, tested and rolled out the new features (checking of nofollow in both anchor tags and meta tags). The script already checks for links hidden in html comments too.

Please allow me to introduce my script now :)

What the script does in a nutshell:

You maintain a list of all your sites that you currently trade hardlinks on.

Then, each time you do a link trade with another webmaster, you enter the details, their site(s), anchor text, trader name and then forget it.

The script will then periodically check that the links remain up. If it finds that a link is missing, it will email you with the reason. It tells you whether the site was inaccessible (eg, network outage), no links were found on the site (eg, server error) or your link was missing (eg, dropped or forgotten?), or whether NOFOLLOW attributes were assigned to your link or the page META data.

You can call up reports by webmaster and your site to remind you of where your links are.

The script has been praised for ease of use, simplicity was the key when I developed this.

It can handle ANY type of trade (AB, ABC, ABCD, AB CD... zyx whatever you like).

You can store bought and sold links on it.

Read more testimonials at my site www dot adult-webmaster dot org

The script is simple to install, just requires you setting up a MySQL database, and setting up a single cron job (or getting your host to do it of course).

Price is $30. Installation is an optional $10 if you require it.

The script homepage itself is www dot adult-webmaster dot org/linkchecker/

The zip file includes an html user guide as well to help you get started.

I hope you find my script useful, please use the contact form on my site if you have any questions or to order the script.

I've got this on a todo list for this exact thing, also will work on hard links and still track the clicks, but I have too much shit to do.

It sounds like a nice idea, but the thing with this is that there is no "standard" way of recording link trades between webmasters, I bet no two webmasters have the same looking list with data in the same place.

I for one have text documents, excel spreadsheets, the works, and I'm putting them into my system so they are "all in one place".

I have been using my script for 6 months and all new link trades I've done in that time have just gone straight in it.

So, whilst I would have liked to offer this, it would take an entire script again on top to make a dynamic link importer. Erm, I hope I made sense lol

looks good, and thanks for the really quick implementation of my suggestions.
the only other thing that would be useful, would be for the script to check the robots test file for a disallow e.g. if my link is meant to be on their page links.htm your script would check their robots.txt file for

disallow: /links.htm

but the nofollow in the links and metatags which you've done is the important thing.

thanks again, i'll grab a copy later on today :thumbsup

It makes sense, though I wish it included ::something:: in terms of import. I would happily manipulate my data to make it work with import.

It could even be as simple as

Code:

http://www.outboundlinkurl.com/whatever.html|http://www.inboundlinkurl.com/whatever.html| Anchor Text
... one per line

You could add more fields, like webmaster email, or link type, and if we didn't have it, we just leave it blank

You know the data and data fields required to be imported for your script to work. I would think it's limited to a few fields of information, . You could make the importer work similar to the way smart thumbs does their import galleries function. I believe they use a series of drop down selectors to assign field order based on the data you are importing, then you could specify how your data is arranged, how it is delimited (pipe, tab, semi-colon, comma, etc). Of course, with text files or excel files, you can massage data any way you need to import it. Seems like this would address the data confusion issue so that a data importer could in fact be written for your script.

The recommended script (http://www.adult-webmaster.org/linkchecker/) looks almost exactly like what I want.. I'll have to check it out.

The script is built on total flexibility... all trades don't have the same structure, if you do AB CD then under a SINGLE trade the A-->B needs to be recorded as well as the C-->D.

The issue isn't massaging data to get a neat "one site, other site, anchor text" or anything... because of the flexibiliy of the script in recording ANY type of trade, they need to be done manually.

When you use the script, you will see that this is it's prime feature, and well worth the manual input effort, which I have found was the weakness of any other product out there... They all wanted to force you to limits in links in/links out per trade.

How many times has a webmaster given you a list of their sites for link trades, and you've chosen, say, 5 or 10 backlinks, and offered them 5 or 10 links back, from DIFFERENT sites to make up the numbers.

My script logs them all under the SAME trade, which is very useful in the future when looking back, yet still monitors all links INDIVIDUALLY.

I was looking for something like this yesterday. Added you to ICQ.

Rofl 03-11-2010 08:34 AM

Thanks to those who stopped by to check it out, and extra special thanks to those who bought a copy :thumbsup

I got a new testimonial to add to the site now "Your script is f'in rad" so there ya go (presuming that "rad" didn't suddenly become new slang for "total bollocks" haha)

Oracle Porn 03-11-2010 08:42 AM

+ sale from me if you add bulk import, shouldn't be as hard as u described.

CPimp 03-11-2010 09:32 AM

I'd imagine that most script mods like that would only need a few changes... make a new page, add some db queries, etc, and off you go ;)

clicker 03-11-2010 10:07 AM

I needed a new one as well bump.

why is that?

BestXXXPorn 03-11-2010 11:44 AM

Code:

function check_back_link($remote_url, $your_link) {
    $match_pattern = preg_quote(rtrim($your_link, "/"), "/");
    $found = false;
    if ($handle = @fopen($remote_url, "r")) {
        while (!feof($handle)) {
            $part = fread($handle, 1024);
            if (preg_match("/<a(.*)href=[\"']".$match_pattern.
"(\/?)[\"'](.*)>(.*)<\/a>/", $part)) {
                $found = true;
                break;
            }
        }
        fclose($handle);
    }
    return $found;
}

If anyone is looking for just a PHP function to check for backlinks...

GOOD NEWS! The script now has a built in BULK IMPORTER!

"Let the market decide" is what they say, and so bowing to public pressure I have added this new time saving featue.

Here is how the bulk importer works in a nutshell (taken from the admin page of the script itself):

SIMPLE IMPORT:
Code:

Use this form to bulk import a list of one way links IN that you want checked by the script.

If your site in each trade doesn't exist, it is added to the system automatically. It will then insert the trade and begin auto checking. The new link is given the status 'BACKLINK' in the reports section.

The rows are one per line and | (pipe) separated.

Format: YOURSITE|THEIRSITE|ANCHOR|TRADER

ADVANCED IMPORT:
Code:

Use this form to bulk import a list of reciprocal links that you want to be checked and "associate" with the returning link that you gave.

If your site in each trade doesn't exist, it is added to the system automatically. It will then insert the trade and begin auto checking. In the reports section at a later date you will be able to see what link you gave back as well as the backlink you are expecting in. The new trade is given the status 'TRADE' in the reports section.

The rows are one per line and | (pipe) separated.

Format: YOURSITE|THEIRSITE|ANCHOR|YOURSITE2|THEIRSITE2|ANCHOR2|TRADER

URL's must be valid URL's with h t t p : / / included. ANCHOR is optional, and will default to 'x' if omitted. TRADER is optional and will default to 'bulk' if omitted.

Both YOURSITE2 and THEIRSITE2 can be replaced with 's' if you like. The script will then grab YOURSITE or THEIRSITE to fill in the URL respectively.

Existing owners will be getting an update shortly :)

I hope you will find this feature useful.
