Mississippi school sued for canceling prom over lesbian student
http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/03/11...uit/index.html
"The decision was made, the board of education said, "taking into consideration the education, safety and well-being of our students." |
I was just reading that. Typical Southern bullshit.
|
Only in the states... LOL
|
I just saw that on the news. I can't believe those backwoods idiots would rather completely cancel an event than have a couple of lesbians attend. Ignorance.
|
Funny comments. Cnn is turning into youtube.
|
What a bunch of cry babies. Like little kids who take their toys home when things don't go their way.
|
That's a difficult issue.
With the prom, everything is implied to be with woman and man. A couple of women may be mistaken for ladies who don't have a date. I don't know what to say. I think a separate prom for lesbians could work. But then, there would be only a few couples attending. |

I'll need to see video proof of said lesbianism for verification purposes.

"To those that think Lesbianism and Homosexuality is not a sin, you should read Romans Chapter 1, verses 26 to 32 - the penalty is "worthy of death"." Ouch.

.. maybe it'd be cool if she wore a strap-on.
|
not everyone accepts gays
|
The sooner society accepts that all people are different; we all have different tastes, we all have different goals, we all have different interests... and that it's OK... the world will be a better place.
The main issue here is religion. It is religion that teaches bigotry. Christianity has become twisted and perverse over the years... Instead of preaching how each person should love their neighbor and how it's not their place to pass judgement they're busy preaching how gay marriage shouldn't be allowed and how "all gays are going STRAIGHT to hell". I've never met an atheist who has a problem with someone being gay or gay marriage. Or AT LEAST FFS some sort of union between partners. To deny that is to deny peoples' RIGHTS and THAT is fucking EXACTLY what this country was founded AGAINST. |

The way I see it is, the school knew enough to know that if they banned the lesbians from attending, they'd probably be sued by the lesbians.
But cancelling the entire event and telling the world that you did so because of the lesbians is NO different. So sue the school. What else you gonna do.. start a farm? (not that there's anything wrong with that) |

For the simple fact that we are all different these things happen...

makes yah think, but perhaps i shouldn't mock it.. From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" He turned around, and looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. |

soon schools will be full of lesbians and gays, and news will read stuff like 8y.o girl turned lesbian because she found out 9y.o boy that she likes is gay.

Caught the girl on the news earlier. They are suing the school. Also a local hotel is giving the students free use of a large space to hold a prom, no charge.

So according to you, there should be separate proms for gays and straight kids. While you're at it, let's also have a separate prom for whites, blacks, Jews, Christians, rich, poor, and whatever else you can come up with to separate them even more. |

i think they may not have a case they must have consulted a lawyer first. they canceled it therefore they didnt deny access to the event.
