Domain Security with Godaddy
After reading a lot of bs on these boards and a lot of negative propaganda about Godaddy on the internet. No matter what Godaddy is a Monster in the domain industry and the largest in the world. People will find bad and good with any product, but the 24/7 phone support is killer. :thumbsup
Well I did become a little paranoid about my domains with godaddy...not because of what I promote but for security reasons. Since someone can crack your free email account and then request the password and then transfer out all your domains. Well these are some of the stories out there...bla, bla, bla So I figured the best way to secure your domains was to edit your registration information, once you do this you cannot transfer to another register or transfer to another Godaddy account for 60 days. Then just edit again, and again. My VIP rep did tell me that he can transfer a domain for me if I really needed to transfer a domain to another buyer...but I would need to contact him specifically. Also using http://www.domaintools.com/monitor/to watch your domains for any changes. |
Thats what I like about godaddy...the 24-7 telephone support....I have even called them at 3am with just questions and they answered them promptly..:thumbsup

Godaddy is great to register a domain. Hosting not so much but I feel a warm and comfy feeling knowing my domains sit with the largest registrar out there.

Que the GoDaddy bashers with vague claims of wrongdoing.

meh,
all is fine and dandy till shit hits the fan. I don't like them acting like internet police. |
no problems with godaddy. 24/7 phone support and a personal account rep does it for me. I would suggest not using a free email address though. I have about 400 with them and the rest at Fabulous which has a bit stronger security but I'm in the process of consolidating them all to godaddy.

Godaddy is fine, their e-mail support is getting much better (was complete mess 2-3 years ago).
They have 4,99$ coupon for .COM, .NET .ORG at this moment. http://www.webmasterinter.net/2010/0...rg-at-godaddy/ But if you want real 100% security, try Moniker Maxlock: http://www.webmasterinter.net/2009/1...romo-extended/ |

Of course it's all just personal preference in the end. many have had bad experiences with them. THAT IS WHY YOU HEAR SO MANY NAYSAYERS. Whatever the case, if you're comfortable with them and like their setup, that's your business and you shouldn't be listening to random complaints on the internet anyways... |
Been with Godaddy 10 years. Not a problem.
