How Does Death Affect You?

When people die how does it affect you? Does it depend who it is? Can it be anybody to bumb you out? Does the person have to matter or has to have affected you personally (even giving you a good hard chubby - LOL)? Did you cried when Elvis died or Kennedy was shot or when you thought ET was dead in the movie?

Does it have to be someone you know personally and for real?

I was introduced to death quite early in life, so death has very little effect on me.

Ditto.

Plus my years spent working with patients in a hospital really shed some light as well. You come to see it as a natural process of life. And inevitable.

It's still tough though when someone close whom you care about dies suddenly, unexpectedly or tragically. I'd say that's probably the worst.

I think this is what I was talking about but more people respond to movie posts than a post like this.

My father died like that. Unexpectedly and suddenly. I think from my moms perspective it was too sudden, but if i try thinking of my dad i come to conclusion it might be easier for him, probably not understadning what happened even.

I want a Kennedy Assassination for me or a heart attack. Either one is fine!

yes it depend who it is? for me.

If it's someone really close to you it won't matter much if it's sudden or not, you'll be affected at some level one way or another. You coming to peace with that person passing away will surely be a lot easier if the death is not sudden or unexpected.

I've been dead for years now.

It's quite exhausting, to be honest.

Does NICK CAVE do DEATH IS NOT THE END? Great song, but not as good as a few of his others and not just RED RIGHT HAND.

Barefootsies 04-05-2010 05:52 PM

I have been surrounded by death my entire life. So it does not effect me as much as it would others. I lost almost everyone before I was 21 other than a younger sister and niece. So I did not get to spend 30-40 years of my life with granny and grampy or whomever.

That said however, I do not like hospitals, funerals, or alike. I am not a shoulder to turn to when you are dealing with your first real death. Like a mother of father. I come off as uncaring and cold.

StrokeKing 04-05-2010 05:59 PM

i dont want a normal death. i mean i dont want to pay thousands or million curing my diseases. an instant death will be my choice.heart attack or something like that..

It depends on who and how. My dad died in '07 to cancer. It was made easier because we knew it was coming.

A friend of mine killed himself this past Friday. He didn't just blow his head off either. After releasing his wife and 5 kids from the home, he shot himself in a room he filled with propane, blowing up his home and damaging his neighbors. It was so unexpected and not his character, It has almost hit me harder than my fathers passing.

u-Bob 04-05-2010 06:11 PM

depends on the person....

He went for the feature film pitch. I had a couple friends who did that too. Sorry for your grief, but at least he let his family go which is sort of cool. It's a crazy world these days, and when it comes to crime I was always profit oriented. But I asked for this and thought I should respond cause I just got sarcastic recently in this thread.

I get more upset when a pet dies compared to my friends.had a few commit suicide and although shocking,I think it's a cowardly way to die
