Should I allow Google to index my gallery pages?
I run an adult website with some thousands of picture gallery pages, actually we have disallow Google from indexing that pages puting on them:
<META name="robots" content="NOINDEX"> That is because we think that worths for nothing index that kind of pages that has no text, no information and just a picture, and we prefer that Google that index only the truly normal/valuable pages of our site. Are we right or wrong? Will Google consider our site much higher (many more content and pages) if we allow again Google to index such gallery pages? Any coment welcome Regards David |
Do you offer free access to this galleries? If so, I see no point in not letting Google index this pages. Don`t let Google index you pages that are restricted to free access if you don`t have a security method for protection.

Yes these are free galleries

Of course let google index them. Use keywords in the meta title and description, and if no text at all on gallery use same keywords for pic alt tags etc.
Have all your galleries linked from your sites index page, via a gallery page or something, use same keywords as above for link anchor text or pic tags if using thumbs, and add sitemap xml to google webmaster tools. When submitting to TGP's use same keywords as in title etc for your gallery description on the TGP's, same or nearly same for all TGP's. When the traffic has died from all the crap waste of fucking effort TGP's that charge for a shitty listing (thehun.net is only one left worth submitting to, and free), sit back and enjoy free targeted traffic for your keywords from google and others. Manipulating google is so much fun and profitable :thumbsup |
are you high on crack ???
of course you should let google access your gallery pages? you want traffic from google. remember ? :Oh crap |
I would have to agree with papill0n. You have nothing to lose by letting Google index all your pages.
|
Don't let them have that honor, they must pay to have the privilege of indexing your free galleries.

Thanks everybody, I have include all the stuff in the sitemap and take out the <META name="robots" content="NOINDEX"> for the hundreds of gallery pages.
|

Allowing Google to index your gallery pages will most definately drive more traffic your site. You made the right choice by making that change.

Do you think it might be good to have thousands more pages in Google that DO have a line of text? Maybe add the title of the gallery or whatever. Even a few words like "Latin shawty takes it in the butt" gives Google something to index, and therefore return for certain searches. |

With this if your index or any linked page gets good ranking google will also show more of your pages under your result, can be just a few small text links or about 10 links and also a "more results from your site" link taking you to a complete google list of your site, cool :thumbsup For the text links it looks like they use your own anchor text or alt tag, or the page title if no anchor or alt. Theres info in webmaster tools but I can't remember what they call this. Examples: Google uk Google com Quote:
The term I like best from an avatar seen on GFY is "Raping google for a living" :1orglaugh |
