The Socks 'N Shoes Debate & Poll
I absolutely detest wearing socks. I only put them on if I need to wear a suit or something like that. I only put shoes on if I'm leaving the general vicinity of the house, and that's only been recently because of being back in California. In Hawaii, I was barefoot 24/7, even when I went out, or I'd throw on some slippahs ('flip flops' everywhere outside of Hawaii) at the most. I still have socks from the 90's that have never been worn.
A friend of mine was shocked one day when I was wearing jeans, because in 6-7 years of knowing me, he had never once seen me wear long pants. I've always worn shorts of one kind or another. I wear long jeans about half the year now because of the crappy Bay Area winter season weather. Getting used to it slowly, but still can't wear socks. What's your socks 'n shoes story? |
I always wear socks unless barefoot (i.e. beach, shower, etc.).
|
Living in Miami, I pretty much wear flip flops all the time....
Having said that, I do have my casual flip flops, my formal flip flops, my party flip flops, my business flip flops, etc... ...and I'm not kidding. . |
Hate wearing socks and I always wear shorts... I live in the UK

Had my pool deck slippahs, my beach slippahs, dress slippahs for going out to fancy dinners, work / driving slippahs, party slippahs, etc.... totally no joke. I miss island living. :disgust |
Depends on the shoe.
9 times out of 10 I have some type of shoe on that would look rediculous with socks, but if I'm wearing sneakers I don't have a problem with putting socks on at all. I'm a fan of halloween socks. I like to wear them all year round. They're great. So when socks are required you can bet they are probably orange and black. |

try traveling to Maldives. you actually have to explain the local folks what a sock is. |
i have a thing about feet... i am really not into them....so i always wear socks and make my girlfriend as i hate it when she touches me with her bare feet
|
I fucking loath socks, if it's the dead of winter I'll use an extra blanket, I don't much like shoes either, but I have wide feet and most shoes cramp my feet when I'm out for a hike.
I much prefer sandals (flip flops) and even 'chucks' (I think that's how it's spelled?) I live in the woods, and I mostly walk around barefoot, my feet are pretty tough from doing it for half my life lol, sticks, twigs and rocks don't bother me much at all. Mrs. Loki is even worse, she hates socks and shoes so much that she'll even TRY to go outside barefoot in the snow lmao -Loki- |
I live in a nude resort so I only wear clothes once or twice a week when I go shopping, etc. and then I go sockless wearing flip-flops or deck shoes. The last time I wore socks was with a suit 1 1/2 years ago at my mothers funeral.

Im ok in socks and slippers around the house. On the streets its Tennis shoes and socks.. I put on jeans 4 times in the last 2 years. No need for them.
|
I hate socks, as soon as I get in the door I pull em off and throw em on the floor by the shoe rack... I like wearing shoes though, so I see them as a necessary evil. I have loafer socks which basically only protect your heel from chafing when wearing loafers barefoot, which are almost a happy medium...
Nowadays instead of sneakers I wear Sanuks barefoot which feel like a sandal but look like a shoe. |
if I do wear socks I like the very low cut socks that stop right at the ankle
and I agree with you that long pants are uncomfortable |
Flip flops 95% of the year here in Arizona.
During the winter weeks, still usually flip flops but I will wear socks every now and then. |
Day to day while working from home: barefoot usually, slippers when getting the mail.
That's year-round. Winter -- When going out somewhere I wear socks, definitely. If I have to go out for 10 mins of shovelling snow or just to take out the garbage or whatnot, I usually just pull on my big snowmobile boots with the thick felt linings barefoot. No sense messing with socks just for that. Summer -- I'd say 90% of the time I'm either barefoot or wearing those sandal things (mandals?). The only times I'm in socks is for business, while wearing runners, or if going out and am dressing up in a suit or something. Hey when your feet are as cute as mine it's a sin not to show them off. |
Amp 6.0 rocks. Glad to see you around Amp, for real bruh.

There is a class of socks that is way superior to the typical dress or athletic tube socks most people wear. Go to an outdoors store and check out the socks that wick moisture away, are cushioned, are a blend of natural and synthetic fibres...that are in the $15 to $20 range. They make a huge difference.
I love wearing sandals. Usually like the open toed Chaco model, but just bought these Keen sandals for my upcoming trip to Peru and Bolivia - http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_d... 1272916793670 and really enjoying them and they get lots of great reviews on REI... |
I used to wear socks almost 24/7.. kinda had a phobia of letting my bare feet touch the floor :|
Only since a couple of weeks ago have I started going barefoot almost all the time. Now I only put socks on when I go out of the house. |
Pro-sock!
