Johnny rebel - confederate anthem

Oh, I'm a good ol rebel,
Now thats just what I am,
And for this yankee nation,
I do not give a damn.
I'm glad I fought again'er,
I only wished we won.
I aint asked any pardon for anything I've done.

I hates the yankee nation and eveything they do.
I hates the declaration of independence, too.
I hates the glorious union, tis' dripping with our blood.
I hates the striped banner, and fit it all I could

I rode with Robert E. Lee,
For three years, thereabout.
Got wounded in four places,
And I starved at point lookout.
I cotch' the Roomatism a
Campin' in the snow.
But I killed a chance of Yankees
And I'd like to kill some more.

Three hundred thousand Yankees
Is stiff in southern dust.
We got three hundred thousand
Before they conquered us
They died of Southern Fever
And southern steel and shot
I wish there were three million
Instead of what we got.
I can't pick up my musket
And fight 'um down no more
But I ain't gonna love 'um
Now that is certain sure
And I don't want no pardon
For what I was and am
I won't be reconstruted
And I do not give a damn

Oh, I'm a good old rebel,
Now thats just what I am,
And for this yankee nation,
I do no give a damn.
I'm glad I fought again'er,
I only wished we won.
I aint asked any pardon for anything I've done.
I aint asked any pardon for anything I've done.

Did you know that Idol did "Eyes without a face"? I only recently discovered that. I thought it was David Bowie for almost 30 years now.

That's like one of his most famous songs.

I was in the barely-single-digits then; I just figured it was Bowie and never bothered to look it up

There is something about music that lifts the spirit.

J. Falcon 05-11-2010 06:27 PM

This song is pretty shocking.

JustDaveXxx 05-11-2010 06:44 PM

I'm much more slanted towards "green day - american idiot", but please don't start asking for censorship like that idiot in the thread that doesn't want kids to wear red, white and blue on Cinco de Mayo!

What does this Civil War song have to do with American Idiot?

Nothing except for another complainer about certain sensitive lyrics.

I first heard this song when watching The Assassination of Jesse James. One of characters is singing it right before the train robbery at the beginning of the movie. I checked out the full version and the lyrics are really astonishing, so full of hate and resentment. I love it lol

To this day the most vicious song I ever heard was that song KIM by EMINEM, but he sort of punked out after that album. That was a really vicious sadistic song, though!

Nick Cave does some good ones too - OMALLY'S BAR, STAGGER LEE and THE CURSE OF MILL HAVEN!

Actually probably O'MALLY'S is probably the sickest most violent sadistic song ever!

I'm a big fan of Nick Cave (who coincidentally wrote the entire score for The Assassination of Jesse James and even did a cameo in the film). The murder ballads really is a crazy album. However, my favorite album is Boatman's Call.

I heard he wrote a screenplay for an Australian film too (not the same film I don't think). It might have been this thing I saw with Guy Pearce but too lazy to look it up right now LOL

This song reminds me of a story supposedly written by a Confederate soldier after the wars end. He said something along the lines of...I went to war for love of country. When I left for the war I owned a farm and livestock. I had a house on the farm and a wife...children and friends. When I returned from the war...I learned that I no longer had a farm...my livestock were all gone...my house had been burned to the ground...my wife and children had been killed...as well as my friends. I will never love a country ever again.

That song was written immediately after the war. I'm sure it's only sung today with as a form of reminiscent.

Interesting, and one has to be deaf, dumb and blind not to see the reasoning behind such a statement.

Yes, she's in, but plays a very minor role as the guy's girlfriend.
