We did a photo shoot today at a Mansion in Malibu today...

That rents out for around 80K a month.

Who pays that much for rent. Who has that kind of money. It was a nice house and all, maybe worth 20 Mil, but if you can afford to pay 80K a month in rent to have an Ocean View, why not just buy.

Crazy!!!

Sorry, no pics yet. (I know, pics or it never happened.)

fatfoo 05-25-2010 09:02 PM

You know what's interesting, some of the best and most expensive structures with a beautiful view, such as the Toronto CN Tower are free for the public. What a beautiful view!

What does this have anything to do with what I wrote. You need to adjust your bot buddy.

xNetworx 05-25-2010 09:21 PM

I hear a lot of celebs like to rent those types of homes. Keep things fresh and new. It might even makes sense in this housing market.

I worked for a large company who rented a floor in an office building for just under a mil a year. I thought it was retarded then and looking back find it especially retarded now. Why not just buy a building, hire a property management co and lease out the unoccupied units. I know it's a bit of an additional headache, but I'd take the headche over throwing money away.

SleazyDream 05-25-2010 09:30 PM

that's under $3K a day.... I'd rented hotel room for more.......... short term though....

PenisFace 05-25-2010 09:56 PM

When renting a home for $80,000 a month, you probably make at least $90,000 a month. I once knew a man who made $90,000 a month, but fihn2padfkm fdlkmasdlfm kldmaf *error, please reset bot behaviour algorithms*

While $80k a month is a lot for a rental, believe it or not, there are rentals priced even higher. The infamous Hamptons of Eastern Long Island NY holds records for some of the priciest real estate. The people who throw money at these lavish getaways are typically the billionaire Wall Street hedge fund managers who want something for the weekend and don't want to travel too far.

note: MD-LD = Memorial Day to Labor Day

Altwebdesign 05-26-2010 01:58 AM

thats a lot, i saw onc ein leicester square for about $30k a month i thought that was steep!

That is an insane amount of money for rent.

mrjoint 05-26-2010 02:57 AM

there are rich fuckers, for them spending 80K is like spending $800 a month on an apartment to normal folks.

bloggerz 05-26-2010 04:14 AM

probably just for vacation

Davy 05-26-2010 04:24 AM

Well, if you have it, why not spend it...

justinsain 05-26-2010 07:23 AM

Is it possible it's some sort of work around deal.

If they list it as a rental property do they get a tax break or something and they
rent it for an outrageous amount that will hardly ever be actually rented.

Here in florida people with large parcels of land put livestock or plant pine trees to get their property zoned agricultural receiving a HUGE tax break. Not far from me someone has several acres of land between a few shopping centers and he keeps a bunch of goats on it. That move probably has saved him a few million in property taxes

BestXXXPorn 05-26-2010 07:26 AM

Sounds like a vacation rental... do they have weekly pricing as well? That's really not that out of line for a top notch vacation rental :P

Just a few minor bug fixes there, it was doing good on the first half.

Nope, this is to live in with a One Year Lease.

alexchechs 05-26-2010 08:38 AM

I never understood how people could pay high rents long term when with the same money they can buy something just as good. 80K a month that sounds retarded. If I had 80K a month to burn in rent I am pretty sure I could buy something amazing.

There are plenty of reasons to rent a $20 million house vs. buying it.

Sadly, since I do not have $20 million, I do not know the reasons.

But seriously, for many Internationals that only have part-time interests in the US it makes more sense to rent than buy.

I rent a place in Beverly Hills on occasion to shoot. It's a huge place that rents for about 75K per month. The guy rents it out to movie stars, tv celebs, musicians and wealthy businessmen who are staying in LA (short term) to work on projects. It's rented out year 'round so - the clientele is there for sure!

Is it the mansion on the hill, with a swimming pool in the back and over looking LA?

That's nuts.

I had read and article a week or so back some of, 'The Hills', case pay $7k a month for their house in rent. Fucking insane.

I can get you Awesome rental in Cancun/ playa del carmen for shooting.

tranza 05-26-2010 09:28 AM

The rent of a $20mil house over here would be around $400k/month.

It's pretty expensive to rent such high end real state over here.

:2 cents:

If they pay that then they only pay 3.5x more than I do but get 10x more house.

I'm jealous of them...

JayAllan 05-26-2010 11:37 AM

There are a lot of people that have serious cash flow (not me LOL) and can use the write off. Also perks like this often are used to sweeten major deals. A friend of mine just wrote the new Sasha Cohen movie and you would not believe the stuff Paramount did to sweeten the deal with him to get the script.

JP-pornshooter 05-26-2010 12:01 PM

hmmm, guy has a 1 year lease, no wonder he is trying to rent it out for shoots..
he cant make rent, my guess..
if he could afford why rent out for shoots, sure fun to see porn models stomping around your living room, but it gets old really fast.

Peaches 05-26-2010 12:02 PM

Does it make any less sense than someone renting a $100K home for $400 a month? Renting is done for many reasons: Lack of downpayment, lack of credit, no desire to pay for upkeep, not sure if you're going to be there long, etc.

Semi-Retired-Dave 05-26-2010 12:04 PM

Here are just pics to get ideas.
The house I was at isn't on this list.

I'll get some pics of it later tonight.

Thanks Dave!

The guy who owns it is super nice. Sometimes I can snag it for a day at a reasonable rate but he won't commit until a day or two before the shoot....just in case someone wants to rent it out and needs to move in immediately :winkwink:

I was in LA once and stopped by a house the Stevie Nicks was renting at the time. The guy I was with was her tour manager and we were picking up some old memorabilia.

He told me that she was paying $47k a month to rent the place. I couldn't figure out why someone would spend that much a month on rent...regardless of how many millions and millions of dollars they might have.
