You'd have to fix the part of the law that seems to get interpreted as you can't be a good samaritan cowboy first.

If I had got a shotgun certificate and owned one the law is so ridiculous here that if I shot a burglar that was in my house i'd be more in the shit than the fucking thief.

I grew up in a town that had a gun ownership % of around 75% and NO gun crimes...amazing, huh? Are YOU going to try and rob someone that actually owns a gun and knows how to use it?

People don't get that... and it's sad... when you take the guns away you aren't, are NOT, taking guns away from crooks, they do not follow the law to get the guns in the first place, how is that so hard for someone to get... It's common sense, but then again when people follow what Hollywood and the Media say they don't think outside the box... it's just cut and dry remove all guns and the bad guys will go away... :disgust

we have 8 million legal firearms in the uk.

what i did not know was you now have to have a gun licence for an air gun in the uk. when i was a kid, most kids had air guns - they were toys.

i suspect the goverment will panick (in the uk) and bring in new laws.

what gets me is that its only big news as its a middle class (sort of) white area and a shotgun (i think it was a shotgun) was used.

yet, almost (and i do mean almost) each day on the uk news somone is killed with a knife. its just gets a mention. ok, you could say 12 people were killed - but today they found 3 dead (one a child) (link) and it was not even on the news.

it reminds me of that documentery that american chap did on guns. he said things like this are only news becase the media (news) make it a big story.

the news shows were loving it. they got there reporters out on a nice day and had it on 24/7.

i bet if this had been some inner city part of london or manchester and a black kid had shot some black kids, it would not be a story.

but becase it was a nice place and white middle class, its a story.

they draged out all the experts today, to give there views.

and they will milk the story for as long as they can (till england play in the world cup i bet).

but people get shot all the time in the uk.

i suspect at least once a week somone is shot or killed with a gun.

but often its in poor areas.

in manchester its not uncommon, and nottingham there is a big gun crime.

the only reason its made such news is that its a 'nice' area.

lets face it, how often does it happen in the usa? sure from time to time some nut goes wild, but when you consider the size o9f the usa. if you look at it per state i bet its not that common.

those figures are very misleading. its illegal to carry a knife in the UK, so the vast majority of that 163,000 is kids getting stopped by the police carrying a knife. and its very rare that 12 people will be killed by a madman with a knife. if a nutjob is walking dows the street shooting randomly with a gun you run for cover, if he was carrying a knife, you'd pick up something and batter him.

the vast majority of gun deaths in the UK is black on black gang crime. as a normal man on the street you're very unlikely to be a victim of gun crime.

Just a few grams of the wrong thing in your body and you will die. A bullet only weights 10 grams. Good luck with putting the right thing in your body.
