That's what I said near future...It's Monday here 15 min ago and businesses here don't even open for another 8 hours. Phone has been leaked a fe months ago, not like anything is new.

Shouldn't be that hard really, give people what some other phones already have like multitasking, internet tethering, quallity camera, micro SD slot... and people will go wow.

Steve Jobs' marketing genius aside, I bet Droid will eat up iPhone's market share within 5 years.

Thing is thats the key...Apples marketing is way ahead of the rest.....everyone is always playing catch up.......look at the iPad for example it wasnt a new super idea ....tablets/slates have been around a long time but Apple have this ability to repackage/redesign products and to make them into winners thus they are able to steal a lead/market share before the rest know whats hit them !

Things I see that help the iphone market.

1. It's a standard system. Screen sizes are the same so no need to design for multiple screen sizes, however it should be done anyway.
2. They control their own market. No one can tell them what to do.
3. They have lots of apple fan boys/girls.

I see your point but isn't this beginning to look like it has elements of a possible rehash of the whole IBM vs Clone situation back in the early 80s? IBM focused on the hardware but really it was all about the OS. Same with droid's possible ubiquity. Plus, it's open source so that just magnifies its ability to create a network effect

Have fun with that new Iphone with at&t new gimped data plans.

We've already seen the new iPhone, seen it torn apart and already know that it doesn't even compare to some of the new Android based phones that are already out.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what sort of tricks they've got up their sleeves. If they don't have something, it's going to be a let down based on what we've seen already.

It's the 4th generation Iphone and it's also 4G compatible for when AT&T has the service available. :thumbsup

Im not a MAC fan but with apple phones, they certainly rock.

Loved the 3g & have the 3gs. A worthy phone.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple's biggest surprise announcement today wasn't iPhone related.

I still have the first generation, wasn't motivated enough by the recent upgrades but 4G will truly be noticeable.

So what do you think about the new one Gary? As you seem to be giving your opinions on products you haven't touched, I for one welcome your review of the new iPhone that you haven't touched.

No one, other than Apple, knows that yet. They are not going to call it the iPhone 4G if it does not have the capability. iPhone 4.0 or iPhone HD would be a better choice. You should know for sure in 3 hours though.

I hope they release it this summer sometime. I still have the original 2G and have been waiting for a major upgrade.
