Are women too emotional to do a good job of forum whoring and affiliate management?
 

In an industry dominated by men, it's rare to see intelligent women who can hold their own on adult boards.

Are they too soft? Too emotional? Take things / themselves too seriously? Is it the industry?

I can count on one hand how many female regulars there are on GFY who participate in threads often, and even fewer who start threads regularly.

I totally belive there are more men in total then women being affiliates and so on.

But can it be such a simple thing as different priorities? Men generally like to compete, compare and show off themselves as the alpha dog. Maybe women are more concetrated, do the job and then use their time for other things than hanging with people on a message board? They almost always repeted "show us your tits" comments maybe don't help or encourage more postings or participation?

No need to hang out and compare their efforts? Or just got tired of the very low quality of comments which people on here display daily. I have really cut down myself, this board has really lost it's relevance as more and more comments are either unnecessary, totally off topic and there are so many non-saying threads.

You, CunningStunt and Robbie are two people I like to read and follow. Sadly my ignore list grows by the day, since most people have nothing to contribute.

He was talking about female affiliate rep's now though and as an affiliate rep you have to keep a steady presence and be on top of things going on on the biggest boards(IMO). But I'd say you are right on women affiliates in general.

We had this conversation at Internext one year, yes they are, every girl esp the models you see come here hangout for a couple days before getting into some kinda fight etc etc trainwrecks.

Message boards are a good place to chat with others. Both men and women post on them. Sometimes it can be a waste of time to post on forums. If you are female with tits you can make lots of money.

i think a lot of women are much more thickskinned and able to maintain their composure than a lot of men are. while they can be overly emotional, evil cunts, i don't think that applies so much to forum whoring.

I don't really think board whoring and good affiliate management are the same thing. I have had many good female reps from different programs.They are usually no more or less competent than male reps, but typically more personable.

Yes, agreed that board whore and affiliate manager aren't the same thing. And if you are a board whore, then you probably aren't doing your job as an affiliate manager.

I've come across both incompetent men and women, however I must say if I am blindly hitting up a program that has a man and a woman as a contact, I'll contact the guy.

I've been in the industry now for 9 years and have seen plenty of incompetent men and women. They all have one thing in common, they were bad hires from the start. This industry tends to make more bad hires with women in my opinion, because they are hired for something else besides their brains by men (who are also thinking with something else beside their brains).

Not that the men hit on their employees, but that they think a cute or attractive girl is most of being a good sales person or client manager.

Completely my opinion and of note from my observations is that this strategy totally did work in the early days when there was plenty of traffic and sales to go around. It doesn't work any more and a lot of companies still haven't gotten that memo.

I've seen quite a few female reps get overwhelmed on the boards over the years. Usually they get a pass for a while because guys get so goofy with the idea of talking business with someone that has tits. After a while though they get called out for something they or their company has done and many get flustered when the flirty approach doesn't work anymore.

Of course you get some male morons who call out the female reps and make themselves look like an ass. <- gfy classic

women suck at doing business. the majority of business' who hire women do so because they have to or:

A) they want a cute girl around the office
B) they see "their daughter or wife" in the women they hire

anytime i do business with women they come onto me and start doing weird shit like "omg you're awesome xoxoxo" why are you love doving me when we are doing business?

it is so unprofessional it is not even funny.

chicks are not as good as men when it comes to business and thats final. they think with their emotions and it makes them sidetracked. anytime you tell them they are doing anything negative they take it personally instead of fixing it. like they cannot do any wrong.

not to mention they are always sick/boyfriend problems/time of the month/kids excuse/jabbering on facebook instead of working.

this is not all over the world. this is north america where women think they are princesses and think looking cute is an excuse not to work. i dont blame them i blame their daddies, the same dads that are the ones to usually hook them up with a job somewhere.

women are good at HR jobs where it is about getting along with the staff. to make solid business decisions i dont think so. or i guess in porn where the majority of guys are complete losers so they can act cute and get clients.

they are also good with jobs like teaching or kids because of their motherly instincts.

I would like to see how many CEO/Vice president combos out of that are women.

put 2 women in a room with the rest as the majority of men and you can guarantee they will back stab each other even if it is their best friend.

I think I have pretty much held my own on the boards as well as as a Rep and an Affiliate, I am probably one of the few women that has at one point or another been all of these things. I have been content, I have been an affiliate, I have run or tried just about every kind of site there is to try.

My favorite position to hold in this industry is with the Affiliates I work for... and yes, I work for them... I love people and I love getting to know them, so of course I am a little more personable (or try to be) than most... but it is because I love dealing with people so much. THIS makes me a damn good Rep... lol

Wow, I've never used xoxoxo ... and I would probably tell the woman that too if I were. You are right, it is unprofessional and I wish women would stop doing that shit cause it does give everyone a bad name.

I do have to say though, I've seen more male affiliate reps get let go lately than female.

Damn do I miss the days of getting hit up daily by hot reps. I miss waking up to a "Hi cutie are you there?" or a "hihi" on icq

I knew there was a reason I loved you so much. I have come under fire so many times for saying the same things as you are saying here.

I find two things when dealing with SOME women, not all, but the ones that do it really stick out and get all of the "categorical" names pinned on those of us that don't do it.

1) They either try and use their sexuality to get what they want

or

2) They are extra specially hard to contend with and bitchy because they think they have something to prove.

And any woman that is offended by such statements made by me, well, you are probably the ones doing it and I am sorry.... wait, no I am not. lmao
