do you like being called sir?

i hate it when shop people call me sir.

it sounds stupid.

to me i am a kid (ok i am in my 30's) but i do not want to be called sir.

i can understand calling somone senior sir but not sopmone my age.

oi tell people its adam. not even mr. mr blake is my dad.

it seems recently that all businesses in the uk have been told to call the customers sir or madam.

the only time i used to be called sir was by the poilice when they stoped me for speeding.

I don't mind, sir!

Jarmusch 07-06-2010 03:21 PM

So what do you like strangers to call you? Mister? Dude?

pimpware 07-06-2010 03:24 PM

I don't give a fuck, Sir!

JBlack 07-06-2010 03:25 PM

well the only ones that address me by "Sir" are the people I outsource simple cut'npaste stuff to and I have to admit ... it does feel uncomfortable because of how frequently they use it...

CaptainHowdy 07-06-2010 03:34 PM

Being called "sir" is a prelude to getting scammed by that very same gentleman...

IllTestYourGirls 07-06-2010 03:35 PM

MuleScrote 07-06-2010 03:35 PM

Just because all nigerian scam letters start with 'Dear Sir' does not mean you're about to be scammed. :winkwink:

Loch 07-06-2010 05:01 PM

I’m 35 so i don’t really feel it is age appropriate yet
So in other words, no

Barefootsies 07-06-2010 05:11 PM

Perhaps they can call you 'sire' instead.

scarlettcontent 07-06-2010 05:22 PM

mineistaken 07-06-2010 05:33 PM

You are over 30? It should not be weird, you are old enough. When you are 18 or 22 it may be strange for you. And I don't treat it as a word for old men, to me sir =unknown man (stranger). Nothing to do with the age (as long as you are not 14 of course)

scouser 07-06-2010 05:37 PM

no, it sounds weird.

hearing people call women "ma'am" is even more stupid though i think

MrBottomTooth 07-06-2010 06:01 PM

Around here when people call me sir I consider it an insult. Usually they say it when they are being snotty or sarcastic. Like when I am hammered in the casino. "I think you have had too much to drink, sir."

FUCK YOU MOTHERFUCKER!!!! I'M JUST GETTING WARMED UP!!!

That's usually how it goes, anyways.

GTS Mark 07-06-2010 06:02 PM

Sir yes sir!!!

fatfoo 07-06-2010 06:03 PM

I read in the newspaper about a rich dude being knighted by the Queen.
He can add "Sir" in front of his name. I think it sounds better.

PornMD 07-06-2010 06:21 PM

I don't mind sir and am surprised there are people that mind that.

I do mind being called boss, chief or big guy...makes me want to shoot the other person in the face.

Spunky 07-06-2010 06:26 PM

In the UK excessive use of the the word "Sir" is considered to be slur on the person in question (in other words you really calling him an asshole, but not in a position to say as much).... unless the person in question actually does have a Knighthood then its not the case.

ErectMedia 07-06-2010 07:02 PM

I don't like sir makes me feel old but I guess that's reality setting in. Now if it's a chick in a schoolgirl outfit bent over grabbing her ankles she can call me sir, daddy or whatever she pleases.

CHARGER 07-06-2010 07:09 PM

Im 29 and the only people that i REALLY HATE calling me sir are PHILLIPINOS contacting me all day trying to promote via chat selling :2 cents::2 cents:

If you don't mind Mr. charger, if you hate people asking to promote via chat so how much did you earned from them? I also notice that you have a bad reputation I guess some knows who, and if you don't mind me asking why you are still looking for people to promote your clone affiliates for chatters? Please give me an answer,

JBlack 07-06-2010 08:04 PM

^ Ohh and here is the long awaited drama!!! :)

MrMaxwell 07-06-2010 09:59 PM

Some of my lady friends call me sir
I don't demand it
But I like it

I fucking hate being called sir disrespectfully... like in an area with bad cops or by someone at a poker table

lagcam 07-06-2010 10:02 PM

Sir is better than "mister" which some Asian countries wrongly consider to be polite.

icymelon 07-07-2010 02:43 AM

dude works. or if its east coast bro

EliteWebmaster 07-07-2010 04:22 AM

For some odd reason, I have noticed that foreigners/immigrants like calling caucasians "Sir", anyone else notice this?

+1 in a similar way to anyone that comes up to you and wants to shake your hand is a crook.

I also find being called sir a bit forced a lot of the time in shops or patronising.

BlackCrayon 07-07-2010 04:35 AM

only when shes on her knees..

seeandsee 07-07-2010 05:14 AM

i agree with you sir, they should call you that way

common use: "i aint scamer sir"

Chosen 07-07-2010 05:19 AM

Don't like it.
We're all equal, right?

magicmike 07-07-2010 05:50 AM
