never seen a five hour lag on front page... usually one hour.

What has happened and is there a fix?

I've been observing this also. Seems like it happens every day around 5:30-ish (PST).... like everyone goes to dinner at the same time or something.

My guess is, that's when the kids all have to report for their McDonald's shift.

The only people on here now are:

a) desperate designers / hosting spammers (hi BD)

b) forum whores and sponsors who try to vie for the 20 remaining affiliates who have dribbles of a few thousands hits per day

c) tube site owners with 80% of the adult traffic, who are looking for the latest $60 pps specials

d) people who have made their money getting some sadistic pleasure from hanging around

e) noobs and surfers who have no clue and think it's all new and cool

f) sleazydream

I used to check this place every day, but because of those fucking flash ad's blasting shit thru my speakers such as "oh fuck me now" 4 or 5 years ago, I'm here for 10 minutes every 3-4 months. That bullshit completely killed my urge to even look on here. Blame that for killing this place, I do.
