Have Google provided any explanation why it's backed out?

i believe the official word is that the data is supplied by the roman catholic church in rome..the vatican

and that they have chosen to block the image.

but, i cant find the proof of that.

someone showed me before, something along the lines of the vatican owns the satellites providing the imagery

Google would sooner just remove the offending parts then block out the whole thing. There's also no proof that those coordinates are real. He could have added them to the original image using paintbrush.

Another possibility, is that it is blocking out a military satalite or something that may have been in the path of the telescope for pics of that area.

Easy way to find out, download google earth and type in the coordinates.

Ermm, i meant the other way around. He might have found the blacked out spot, and put it's coordinates in the photo he showed at the start.

it is obvious when seen that it was cut out

im not reading into it or saying the mothership is coming..lol

but...the fact remains the image is missing.
