Wow. I'd love to see that and go swimming if I wasn't afraid of heights!

Yeah, it's pretty sick. Just don't look down. Maybe this is where AVN or Xbiz should have their next show. :Oh crap

Highest Def 08-14-2010 09:42 PM

WOW! I thought the first pic was a chop until I checked the article. Hell, they all look like they could be chops.

alias 08-14-2010 10:18 PM

Cool pool, strange building design though.

iMind 08-14-2010 11:23 PM

Looks fucking stupid.

Like, why make a fucking building that looks like a boat? that's fucking stupid.

Naechy 08-15-2010 02:29 AM

omg, this is perfect, what a view

Chosen 08-15-2010 04:15 AM

I haven't...
Looks great though :thumbsup

Zuzana Designs 08-15-2010 04:56 AM

I was reading about that place a few weeks ago. I'm hoping to plan a vacation next year to Singapore. It looks like a beautiful place. I'm not a big fan of heights though.

Klen 08-15-2010 05:02 AM

Looks so scary.

Vendot 08-15-2010 05:05 AM

thats bad...... dont people accidently swim off the edge?

Just recently i've suddenly ended up with something like vertigo :(

Not the being up high - still love that - but looking down over the edge of something I get a really strong sensation like i'm going to fall off and it's not a nice feeling.

CaptainHowdy 08-15-2010 05:53 AM

Plain awful...

Yea me too. My house is 3 stories high, and when I have to look over the edge off the back deck I get a sick feeling. I hate it when my son gets close to the railing too. I think as I get older I like heights less.

20 hour flight from LA

Pornopat 08-15-2010 06:17 AM

if you look at the second and third pics, you can see a slightly lower level running around the structure.

That's the reservoir that collects the water from the Infinity edge and pumps it back into the pool. I'm sure there is something behind that as well.

I don't even go to the Vegas one 45 Minutes away, good point. 20 hours. Jesus!

TeenCat 08-15-2010 09:15 AM

welcome to the future, very nice thanks for sharing! :thumbsup

Martin 08-15-2010 09:24 AM

That looks awesome.

leedsfan 08-15-2010 09:34 AM

its that tugging feeling in your nuts when standing or being near a huge drop that gets most people, myself included. Don't mind heights, but swimming close to the edge would definitely qualify as a nut tugger.

yeah, what i was saying was there isn't a straight drop over the side of the pool

On CNN & CNBC there is a lot of talk about Singapore being an up and coming hot spot. This place looks insane. They showed it on some special about Singapore this week.

sternyduke 08-15-2010 11:43 AM

that is sweet!!! just added to my bucket list on places to visit :thumbsup

2MuchMark 08-15-2010 11:55 AM

Ok I really think there is something wrong with me.

First, I would love to go to that Hotel. That swim looks amazing and the view spectacular.

Here's the sick part.

I want to swim... to the end... and look over the edge... and if there's any kind of safety rail there.. I hope it feels weak... I would even want to lift a foot over the edge and just lay there on the edge, looking down and around, wiggling the weak safety rail... WOW..

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/...92_964x472.jpg

Agreed, I need a doctor. But what a thrill.

scubadiver626 08-15-2010 11:55 AM

We went to Sentosa Island and viewed this under construction last year.

Singapore is hot, humid and the casinos don't come close to Vegas. I'll admit Universal Studios was fun, shopping kicks ass there, and there's a happening social click.

I just couldnt get past the heat!

thinking back, the airport was freaking amazing ;p

NewbieNudes 08-15-2010 12:13 PM

Yep, was there two weeks ago. Observation deck is open to public but you can't use the pool unless you are staying at the hotel (Marina Bay Sands)

Building does look amazing in real life and the attached mall is sweet too.

Let me make it simple for those you back home in UK to understand.

I am lecturer.
I earn twice the salary I would in UK.
I am NOT on any attractive expatriate package. My package is the same as a local.
I have a nice apartment, which is near the beach.
I can afford to hire a maid, who is happy to earn 4 times the salary working for me than she would back in the Philippines (and put her 2 kids through school).
I pay 10% in tax on my earnings (there are no other taxes on my salary)
GST (VAT) is 7% ...congratulations on yours now rising to 20%
I can afford to save money.. ...something I never experienced while working in UK
The public transport system here is 10 times more efficient, 100% safer and 50% cheaper.
There are no social leeches here that think they are owed a living by the state.
Education is taken seriously, because without it you simply earn less.
Crime is punished without any remorse as it should be.

- Expat Overseas, Singapore, 25/6/2010 19:11

part 2..

This country was a 3rd World swampy island with no natural resources, no infrastructure and social unrest just 40 years ago.
Look at those photo's above again.

How the tables have turned. Each year my colleagues ask me why I'm not returning to UK for a holiday.. ..Hee, Hee.. the irony of it.

That is awesome that you got to experience it. I was wondering about the towers, most towers sway and have rollers under them. I wonder how these would work having a platform on top attached to all three.

Might have to dig up their plans on Google.

CYF 08-15-2010 08:09 PM

wow, that looks awesome.

2012 08-15-2010 08:14 PM

can I be a rock star and bring all my barbarian friends ?

Redrob 08-15-2010 08:43 PM

Singapore is on my short list of places to retire. I was really impressed with the place.

Semi-Retired-Dave 08-15-2010 08:51 PM

Regarding the swaying.

Here is something even scarier for the nervous swimmer, however. There are four movement joints beneath them. They are vital when it comes to helping the 400,000 pounds of stainless steel which make up the pools withstand the motion of the towers. The range of motion is almost twenty inches, which means that the pool should be able to withstand quite a sharp wind.

Also, more pics.

It's actually modeled after a deck of cards, not a boat.

charlie g 08-15-2010 11:06 PM

I was there last month.......... breathtaking!

BergyK 08-15-2010 11:06 PM

They showed this resort on "build it bigger" show couple months ago. It's insane on how they built this. You got to watch that show. I'm sure they will show the rerun.

Kiopa_Matt 08-16-2010 12:21 AM

That place is only a few hours away on a cheap flight for me, and I have to make a VISA run every 3 months. Looks like I know where we'll be going on the new VISA run!

tiger 08-16-2010 01:52 AM

Amazing view and pool. I still prefer the beach though :)

JFK 08-16-2010 02:51 AM

looks fantastic:thumbsup:thumbsup

Konda 08-16-2010 04:19 AM

The first plans were to have a golf course on the rooftop. I like the pool idea. Just booked a room for a weekend in October.

Nice,

Glad they didn't put a Golf Course up there, I would have a hard time hitting the ball from the ground floor back to the roof top. :1orglaugh
