Those with funds stuck in epassporte... they warned you.

I finally got to start my own epass thread.

But it is true.
When they launched the "wallet" feature, they told you to keep all your funds
in the wallet, and to only transfer funds to your virtual accounts as needed.

Who remembers this?

I do.

Either way, it's my damn money.

They should have their service running correctly.

FreeOnes 09-06-2010 09:43 AM

Yeah I could never think about any function for the wallet, but this is probably it. Not sure though or you can really get your money out of it.

I withdrew 600 today via my wallet. I still have 2400 in my VV locked up at the moment and ATM doesn't work. So epass is only 2/3rds broken. :)

You withdrew from your wallet, and do you have the fucking money yet? No? Then you don't know if it's fine.

Why would I think it would be any different? The Visa part is fucked up.. not the wallet part. The wallet has never been fucked up. You are taking one problem and smearing it all over the whole product.

you have been warned :P

The whole point of their business was to provide an "easy to get" funding feature. What good is the wallet if they have to wire or send you a check? The affiliate program could do the same thing, or even ach the money to your account if your US/Canada based.

If the engine starts but all four tires are flat, you're still not going anywhere.

The Porn Nerd 09-06-2010 10:43 AM

Who do I call to report that my 'virtual eWallet' has been stolen? The virtual police dept.?

Withdrawing to a checking account is... cheaper than a wire ($3) and faster than a check (5 days or less).

I too have $$$$ locked in my Vvisa account on epass. :(

Wrong. Wallet was invented to keep extra money off the card to prevent ATM fraud, not because they knew it was coming the way it is.

I do, so I always keep all ePassporte funds in my wallet.

That is not the point.

The point is to keep the majority of your funds in your wallet at all times and tranfer it into your virtual account as needed and you could still transfer money instantly after moving it out of your wallet.

Then when something like this happens you get a check or a wire transfer out of epass if you feel as if you need to. Then a lot of us would not be in this boat.

I personally only have a couple bucks in there as I was lucky enough to spend most of it the day before the announcement.

"If you do not regularly use your ePassporte Visa Virtual or Visa Electron card, ePassporte recommends transferring your balance to your Wallet as an added security measure."

i use my account everyday, never bothered with the wallet...

Same here. As quick as the funds came in they would go out on a daily basis for traffic purchases etc. I never used the wallet. In this case I got stuck because payments hit from sponsors within 24 hours of the cards being shut down trapping some funds.

I don't live paycheck to paycheck so I am not that worried about it. I do of course want my funds released so I hope they solve this issue expeditiously.

It still was an easy to get funding feature. It only tokk a few more keystrokes to get it out.

You could transfer from the wallet to virtual visa with a few clicks and then carry on as normal. It's like keeping your money in the safe at home before you take it out to spend.

Me too... So I only lost 5 bucks as the rest was and is in my wallet and I only transferred it to my Visa when I needed to pay with that card...

icymelon 09-06-2010 11:27 AM

problem is the default is the funds going into your virtual visa not the wallet

Wouldn't that be because that is how you have your account set up?

Vick! 09-06-2010 11:42 AM

I thought wallet is just another shiny feature they added, just to make the product look more secure and stuff.

I didn't know putting money in wallet actually transfer my *real* money to somewhere else, where it is more secure.

PS. I still don't get that "visa suspended the cards so money is inaccessible" thing.

The money is accessible, but the cards are "turned off" so to speak. No ATM or POS purchases at this time.
