I really don't see the point when some shit for brains like GatorB threatens to give me negative rep because I don't see things the way he see's it, if I gave a shit about it, then the green names would control my actions, fuck that!

The rep function is totally useless. It should be renamed, "who ever can ask to get rep'ed the most by asking others for rep" because that is how it is getting used.

Rep is kinda gay, but at least interesting to see at a glance what the general green/red community here think of someone by their rep. I try to be funny most of the time but apparently don't succeed enough to garner the rep.

I do agree with you, but you can see who is actually worth anything by looking at the non green guys who have good rep, as a lot of them got their rep from legitimate posts and not begging for rep.

I for one have only asked to be rep'd like twice, and both times got ignored, the rest of my rep came from people actually agreeing or liking my posts. :2 cents:

I was going to repeat how pointless the rep shinanigans is but you made a good point about the non-green people with rep. Even still it is clearly a thing that is easily flawed and should have no weight on a persons actual reputation.

It's a shiny toy for the people who post their ass off for no apparent reason other than increasing their post count, except for a very select few of people. Who seriously can reach that many posts? I just recently reached 2k (without making a fucking announcement about it) and look how long I've been here. It's because my posts usually have some merit or my thread is asking a question that will help many other people out who have the same questions.

Just like post count and join date, take the rep with a grain of salt and use actual references with previous people you've done business with, as a good indication of whether they are someone you want to do business with or not.

Well you can sometimes gauge a persons positive contribution based on the fact that they've been a member for years and made only a select amount of posts (not counting the troll nicks of course).

Basically you just need to be able to see the sincerity and reputation in poeoples posts and what others say about them. If you haven't been here long enough to tell if someone is a problem solver or problem starter on your own then you should hold off on doing any 'business' here.

Honestly does it really matter? I either know someone or I don't. And I either trust them or I don't. I don't need other's anon opinions to help formulate my own.
