Buying unlocked smart phones online (safely)
 

Hi guys, do you know of places where I can buy smart phones online without loosing my money?

Last year I tried to buy an iPhone on Alibaba.com and got scammed of 350$ :(

ebay? just look for a reputable seller

is it a problem buying unlocked phones over there?

I got scammed for ~$250 on Alibaba 2 weeks ago. I knew it was risky to pay using WesternUnion, but I did it anyway... :P
Next time I will lookup the seller better and he should have been on there for at least 1 year. That "Gold-supplier"-thing doesn't mean shit.

I heard that I can buy unlocked iPhones in Canada directly from the cell phone providers when paying the full price, is this true?

Any online shops that I can trust?

this is why eBay has reviews and ratings systems in place ... I have bought several unlocked phones on eBay - for myself as well as family. :thumbsup

I never deal with anybody with less than 1000 transactions, and at least a 98% positive rating ... and I have never been screwed over ...

Reading a cross-section of the comments left by others (positive as well as negative), will pretty much tell you how your experience with that seller will go.

Not at bell :( they wouldn't unlock a phone I wanted to buy outright

Found a cell phone shop in abbotsford where the guy charged me 50 bucks to unlock my htc legend and it worked great when I was in Amsterdam

In Canada and the UK you can purchase iphones unlocked/no contract direct from thier site. (apple.ca etc)
