thnx, but I'm actually looking for a client that's compatible with skype (or at least the chat function. I don't need or care about the voice and video options).

Currently only compatible skype client(if you could call it client)
it https://imo.im/ ,but it browser based.I would even use it for all not just for skype but i am too paranoid for using it.

Yes but there is chance how it only proxy it,where it's required to have original client running.

yeah, all alternative im clients (like trillian, miranda-im etc) with skype compatibility I have sound so far, all use the original client :(
