fatfoo 11-01-2010 04:21 PM

These laptops are quite expensive. It is possible to buy a laptop for $600. You can use the cheap laptop to play old computer games, use the Internet, email, print, storing information, communication, calculations, Excel, Word, Power Point and more.

What i usually do is just make sure they have no software on it. Dell has this option when you purtrchase it through there site. If i buy it outside i just wipe it out clean and start with just windows.

I think these laptops listed are too expensive. Why pay that much more for an SSD drive. Are you going four wheeling in the outback or something? To pay double because something has a SSD drive is crazy.

I have a core 2 duo, 4 gigs of ram, 320 gig hd and upgraded video on mine and i paid like 450-500 bucks or so...

You can buy 4 backup drives 3x's the size for the same amount of money.

Ubuntu is nice, I just wish Adobe supported linux. You can get Photoshop to work fine with VM Ware or Wine but just simple crap like that holds it back.

The SSD drives are not what makes the machines spendy.
They are the same price as the non SSD ones.

Those hard drives are kind of small and if you can add in the quadcore I would.

DamianJ 11-02-2010 09:09 AM

All SSD drives are not alike. I've heard repeatedly that there is only one brand worth buying. I doubt that is the one in the dells.

hey dude, what up?

buy one of the m1330's that you will find in the outlet. i bought one new, and i am a hardware junkie. i would love to get a new laptop, but if its a PC... there just isnt anything that good on the market right now other than the sony 1390X.

you can get a m1330 with a SSD and 6 gigs of ram for a grand. you can not kill the machine. the harddrive is twice the size of what you are looking at

HBKKH 11-02-2010 06:17 PM

Or just get the hardware you want, wipe it out, then install what you like. :thumbsup

I've bought quads for under $500 before. Men don't know how to look for sales and deals like women do hehe. I like a good deal, must be the joy of shopping. I never pay retail, esp. on computers..and I certainly would never buy a dell hehe.

mgtarheels 11-02-2010 06:29 PM

They're terrible for the price.

C-Luv 11-02-2010 06:37 PM

I am not sure if that is a good deal but I love my dell! Every one talks about Mac's but they just don't do it for me.

True story, I was switching cars and was in a hurry and left my laptop bag resting on my tire. I ended up running over my dell laptop. I turned on the laptop and the laptop still worked!!! I did send it in for repairs for free. I love my dell!
